Teacher: First of all let’s revise the words. I’ll give you the cards with the words and sentences. Translate them.

Teacher: The epigraph of the lesson is “Health is a gift of fate and it deserves our full attention.”
As you кnow that health is a part of our life. In the past being healthy meant not to be sick. People nowadays are more health consciencious than they used to be. They understand that good health is above wealth.

Pupils: * An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
A sound mind in a sound body.
Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
Active life makes you feel happy.
Live not to eat but eat to live.
Wellness means more than physical health.
Wellness is a Journey which begins at the moment.
Teacher: What is it wellness lifestyle? What is wellness in your understanding?
Pupil: Wellness is a way to live and to be happy;
is a perfect physical development;
is a freedom from disease;
is keeping lifestyle;
is financial independence.

Teacher: Wellness deals with different spheres of human life. It comprises physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social characteristics

Physical health is a condition of your body.
Mental health is the way you feel about yourself and how you handle your problems.
Social health is the way you build your relationships and establish contacts with people.
Emotional health is the expression your feelings (anger, happiness, envy).
Spiritual health is a condition of inner world or soul.

Каждой группе учащихся предлагается подобрать на карточках определения к понятиям, и предоставляется возможность высказаться по рисунку (см. Приложение 1).
Teacher: Look at the drawings and say under what conditions wellness can exist.
Pupil: Wellness exist when there is a balance between interdependent relationship of the spheres.
Pupil: Wellness can exist when these spheres are connected with each other.
Teacher: How do you think that 2 words “wellness” and “health” synonyms?
Pupil: In a way, yes, but “wellness” has a wider range of meaning. I think, it is includes the idea of health and well-being.
5. Работа по схеме “The Quality of Life Circle.”
Teacher: Wellness depends on the quality of life. The quality can be presented in the form of a circle divided into segments. Look at the scheme and say what ingredients make up each other segments, and how much they take in the circle.

Group 1: Genes and Body Make up (16%) are what inherit from our parents.
Group 2: Environment (21%) is what surrounds on.
Group 3: Health Care System (10%) is what helps us improve health.
Group 4: Lifestyle (53%) is the number of things I can do for myself.
Teacher: Why does the 4th factor take the greatest part of the circle?
Pupil 1: I think that individual choices are more important.
Pupil 2: To my mind that lifestyle depends on a person.
Pupil 3: I think, if all factors are balanced, a person can reach harmony.
Teacher: Tell me, please. Each of us has your own understanding of a quality of life. What ingredients make up a quality life and influence on our health and mood?

Teacher: let’s sum up. How does the lesson help to define your wellness lifestyle? What must you do to be healthy?
Pupils:
not to smoke, not to drink alcohol, not to take drugs;
eat a lot of fruits and vegetables;
eat less sweets, more high fibre food and less fat food;
to walk before sleeping;
to sleep too much and too less ( 8 hours);
to go in for sport.
Teacher: Let’s return to the epigraph of the lesson. It’s really so that health is a gift of a fate and we must take care of it from a birth.
