Урок проводится в группе второго года обучения. Данная тема входит в раздел «Страноведение». На изучение предметной темы « США. Крупные города» отведено 2 часа. На данном занятии студенты закрепляют знания: повторяют с помощью вопросов предыдущий материал, работают по тексту, выполняют упражнения по тексту, составляют кластер по теме. Фронтальная беседа после просмотра видеосюжета, словарная работа, работа по тексту, выполнение различных упражнений, составление кластера, в процессе урока поможет в развитии коммуникативных способностей студентов. Все виды работ на уроке способствуют развитию именно устной речи студентов, развитию речевого навыка.

На уроке используются элементы технологии критического мышления (составление «кластера») информационно-коммуникативной технологии. Учитель готовит раздаточный материал (карточки со словами на новую лексику и лексику изученную ранее, образец кластера),презентацию на тему «Large cities in the USA».

Образовательные:

1.Обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по изученной теме.

2.Совершенствовать умения и навыки практического владения

английским языком

3.Создать условия для повышения познавательной активности и самостоятельности

при обобщении знаний.

Цель: актуализировать внимание студентов на пройденном материале, активизировать внимание на новой теме (крупные города США)

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

The USA is one of the largest countries in the world. It is situated in the central part of the North American continent. The area of the USA is over nine million square kilometers. Its oceans are the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic.

The population of the United States is nearly 250 million people.

The official language of the country is English. The capital of the country is Washington. It was named in honor of the first President, George Washington. As the USA is a large country, the climate is different in different regions.

There are many mountains in the USA: The Cordeliers in the west and Appalachia Maintains in the east.

The country’s main river is the Mississippi but there are many other great rivers in the USA: the Colorado in the south and the Columbia in the north-west. There are five Great Lakes between the USA and Canada.

There are many big cities in the country. They are Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

The USA is a federal republic, consisting of fifty states. Each of these states has its own government. The American flag has different names. One of them is “The Stars and the Stripes”.

The president is the head of the state and the government.

Today we are going to speak about some great cities and we’ll visit a lot of places of interest there.

The names of the cities we are going to speak about are written on the screen but the letters are in disorder. Guess the names of these cities.

3.1 Словарная работа

Цель: повторить лексический запас слов по данной теме, расширить словарный запас студентов новой лексикой

Форма: аудирование с демонстрацией слайдов

Повторение ранее изученной лексики

Изучение новых слов

3.2. Экскурсия – самостоятельная работа студентов по тексту

Цель:

-познакомить студентов с крупными городами США, основными сферами деятельности в этих городах;

-развитие устной и письменной речи (работа по тексту, упражнения)

Студенты получают тексты с заданиями и выполняют это задание самостоятельно (в парах). Затем преподавателем осуществляется контроль.

There are very many large cities in the USA.

Washington, the capital of the United States of America, is situated on the Potomac River. Washington is quite young. The capital owes much to the first President of the USA — George Washington. Washington has many historical places. The US Congress has its seat in the Capitol, and the White House is the residence of the President. There are no sky-scrapers in Washington because no other building must be taller than the Capitol. Washington is a beautiful administrative city. It has many famous monuments: The Washington Monument, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, the Library of the Congress of the USA, and other.

New York is the largest city in the USA and the biggest sea-port. It is the financial and business centre of the country. It is situated in the mouth of the Hudson River. New York was founded by the Dutch. Manhattan Island — the central part of New York — was bought from the local Indians by the Dutch for 24 dollars. Today Manhattan is the heart of business and commercial life of the country. New York is the city of sky-scrapers. The highest of them is the 102-storeyed building. There are many other places of interest in New York: Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Centre, the shopping districts and the United Nations Building.

Another large city of the USA is Los Angeles, in California. Nowadays the city of Los Angeles holds many distinctions. Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, a cultural centre which has more than 300 museums and a paradise of good weather, it is sunny and warm.

Downtown of Los Angeles is the largest government centre outside of Washington, D.C.

Los Angeles has the largest historical theatre district, located in Downtown on Broadway.

Los Angeles is on the leading edge of the growth industries.

The population of Los Angeles is about four million people. Los Angeles ranks as the second largest city in the nation behind New York City. In Los Angeles there are people from about 140 countries, speaking 86 different languages and currently call Los Angeles home.

Los Angeles is the centre of modern industries. Not far from Los Angeles there is Hollywood, the centre of the US film business.

Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, known as the city's rich history and quality education. He is rightly called the cultural and historical center. Millions of tourists come to Boston every year to learn more about the American Revolution and visit the many national historic sites such as Faneuil Hall, Heritage trail and Quincy Market. Boston is historically famous for the Boston Tea Party. American Athens, people styled Boston, has more than 100 colleges and universities. The largest and the most prestigious university of America is situated in Boston. It’s Harvard. Best university is precisely in Boston, in connection with the city's reputation is inherent in the intellectual center!
