Конспект урока английского языка в 5 классе

по УМК Биболетовой М.З.

по теме «Узнаем друг о друге».

Задачи урока:

  1. Активизация лексики по теме; развитие умений устной (монологической и диалогической) речи;
  2. Развитие памяти, умения обобщать, делать выводы;
  3. Формирование навыков речевого этикета, чувства любви к окружающим и близким.
  4. Активизация грамматических навыков (Present Progressive Tense)

Оборудование: компьютер, картинки с изображением членов семей для описания, семейные фотографии детей, карточки с заданиями.

 

 Teacher  .Good morning, dear kids! Good morning, dear guests!

Today we’re having an unusual lesson, as you see. We’ll speak about our families. We’ll speak in dialogues, we’ll give interviews, we’ll describe pictures, we’ll listen to telephone talks, we’ll sing a song and we’ll make some preparations for writing a letter.

So try to do your best to enjoy the lesson! Good luck! And we’ll begin with our phonetic drill.

A 1. - Where are you going to, my little cat?

        - I’m going to town to buy a hat.

         - What? A hat for a cat? A cat with a hat?

         - Who ever saw a cat with a hat?

     2.-Where are you going to, my little fox?

        - I’m going to town to buy a box.

         - What, a box for a fox? A fox with a box?

          Who ever saw a fox with a box?

      3.- Where are you going to, my little chick?

         -I’m going to town to buy a stick.

          -What, a stick for chick? A chick with a stick?

         - Who ever saw a chick with a stick?      

        4.- Where are you going to, my little cock?

           -I’ m going to town to buy a clock.

             - What, a clock for a clock? A cock with a clock?

            Who ever saw a cock with a clock?

       (. a pig – a wig, an elephant - a telephone, etc.)      

  • Chorus work.
  • Individual reciting.( in pairs)

B. Warming up.

Teacher. You know people are very curious. They want to know what other people do. Now, girls, will you ask the boys questions? Use the table of card No 1. There are two pictures in front of you. Guess which picture we are talking about.

  1. What is the grandfather doing? – He is reading a newspaper,
  2. What is the grandmother doing? – She is knitting a sweater.
  3. What is Johnny doing? – He is playing with his toys.
  4. What is Nick doing? – He is doing his homework.
  5. What is Mary reading? – She is reading a book.
  6. What are the parents doing? – They are playing with the child.

Teacher. Now, please, name the family: the Masons or the Claydons?

The Main part.

1.It often happens that when  the whole family is at home your friends call you up. Sometimes they are very curious and talkative. What are they talking about, we shall listen in a few minutes. Now your dialogues on the telephone.

(Prepared speech)

  • Hello! Could I speak to Masha, please?
  • Hello! It’s me.
  • This is Oksana speaking.How are you?
  • Fine, thanks. And you?
  • I’m OK. Thank you. What are you doing?
  • I’m watching television.
  • What is your pet doing?
  • She is sleeping on the sofa.
  • What is Mum doing?
  • She is cooking.
  • What is she cooking ?
  • She is cooking pizza.
  • What is your Dad doing?
  • He is reading a magazine. And what are you doing?
  • I’m listening to music. Let’s go for a walk.
  • OK. With pleasure.
  • See you in 10 minutes. Bye.
  • So long.

2. Listening Comprehension.

Now let’s listen to one more telephone talk between Mr. Bell and Kate Mason. You will learn what the Masons do one afternoon. Listen to the talk, make notes in your papers ( Card No 2) Fill in the missing information. You’ll listen to the dialogue twice. Answer the question: On what day of the week is Mr. Bell calling the Masons?

The telephone talk.

Mr. Bell. Hello! Could I speak to Mr. Mason, please?

Kate. Sorry, but he can’t come to the phone. He is cooking in the kitchen.

Mr. Bell. What is he cooking?

Kate. He’s making a cake. He often makes cakes on Saturdays.

Mr. Bell. Could I speak to Mrs. Mason then?

Kate. No, I’m afraid you can’t. She’s working in the garden.

Mr. Bell.  What’s she doing?

Kate. She’s watering tomatoes. She waters them every day

Mr. Bell. Could I speak to John then?

Kate. No, I’m afraid you can’t. He’s at school.

Mr. Bell. What’s he doing at school today?

Kate. He’s playing football. He always play football on Saturdays.

Mr. Bell. Can I speak to Jane?

Kate. No I’m afraid you can’t.

Mr. Bell. Why not? Is she playing football too?

Kate. No, she’s doing her homework at her friend’s house.

Mr. Bell. Who can I speak then?

Kate You can speak to me.

(Listening once)

Teacher. Listen to the telephone talk once again and check the information. Put down your name on the paper. (Listening twice.)

Hand in your papers.

3. Speaking about your own families.

Teacher. Now let’s talk about your families. What are families like? How can you characterize people in your families? How do you get on with them? So could you answer some of my questions about your families?

T. What would you say your family is like?

- We’re a typical Russian family. We’re loving, hospitable. We get on well with each other.

- How many are you in the family?

- We’re four. My Mum, my Dad, my Granny and me.

- What do your parents do?

- My Dad is an engineer. My Mum is a nurse.

- How would you describe your Dad?

- I think he is intelligent and responsible.

- How would you describe your Mum?

- She is kind, hospitable and loving.

- What are your main characteristics?

- Well, I think I’m sociable, creative and friendly.

- Have you got any brothers or sisters?

- I have got a brother who is 6 years older than me.

- Do you get on well with him? Why?

- Usually I do. He has a good character and sense of humour.

4. Preparations For Writing a Letter.

Teacher. Well, kids, I see that your families are loving, friendly and hospitable. Some  British students ask you to write letters  to them about yourselves and your families. Dmitry Korolyov has written a letter to his pen-friend Linda Silvester.  Open your work books at page 27and find the letter in exercise 29.At home you put in the missing words. Now let’s read the letter. (Reading the letter out loud).

     Find in the letter:

  • the greeting : “Dear Linda”
  • thanks : “Thank you  for your nice Christmas card.”(…for your letter)
  • the questions: ”What is your family like?” “ Have you got any brothers or sisters?”
  • finishing words: ”Hope to hear from you soon. Your friend. Love.”

Paragraphing:

  • characteristics of the family;
  • personal characteristics;
  • questions;
  • finishing words.

5. Writing an address.

Teacher. Now when you know how to write a letter, let’s discuss how write an address.

  • Look at the cards on the blackboard. Read the addresses and choose the right variants. Read them.
  • Read your own address.
  • Look at the letters my former students wrote.
  • Choose the address and the pen-friend for you to write a letter to.

  At home you’ll write a letter about your family to this person, put it into the envelope and write the address.

  1. Singing a song.

And now one more telephone call. It’s from John Monroe from Indiana, who tries to call his girlfriend to Oklahoma, but dials the wrong code and is answered in Montana. Take paper No. 3 and your pens. Put the lines in the correct order. Ready? Now let’s sing the song.

  • Hello! Hello! My name’s John Monroe.

    And I’m calling from Indiana.

    Can I speak to Diana, please?

     Am I speaking to my Diana?

  • Oh, no, no, no. I’m not Diana.

I think that you’ve got the wrong number, my friend,

You’ve dialed the code of Montana.

The Final Part.

   Teacher. Now the lesson has come to an end. To sum up our work let’s write down the home task. It’s to write down a letter to a pen-friend about your family, write the addresses ( yours and your pen-friend’s) on the envelope.

You worked rather well at the lesson: spoke in dialogues, listened to telephone talks, read a letter. So your marks are…
