The procedure of the lesson

  • Organization moment:

  • Greetings

  • Acquaintance with the aims of the lesson

  • Phonetic drill. We’ll begin our lesson with a tongue-twister (It is written on the board).

I scream, you scream, we all scream for the ice cream (in chorus, individually)

  • Checking up homework Ex.3 p.37 W/B (pupils have labeled the picture with the words in the box, they have ticked 5 things they like best, and they put cross in the 5 things they don’t like.

  • Consolidation work with words on the theme: Food, drinks:

a) pupils make new words out of letters, write them on the board & read them:

o f d o - food etc.

b) listening to the tape-recorder, repeating the words after the speaker, saying which of them are uncountable and countable (a box with the things of the food & drink on the blackboard) dividing thinks into countable and uncountable nouns.

c) there is a list of words on the table:

lemonade, cheese, apples, ham, orange juice, milk etc.

pupils put them into the correct column

meat vegetables fruit dairy products drinks

  • Story “Stone-Soup”

All pupils like reading and listening to fairy tales. I’d like you to listen to the fairy tale about magic soup

  • Listening to the story with the books opened, pupils circle the things in Ex.1 p.42 (things which Tramp put in the soup) then check it.

  • Ex.2 p.43 – complete the sentences from the text

  • I haven’t got …….. for you ( - )

  • Well, have you got ……….. water?

  • Oh, I can find …… vegetables ( + )

Which words have we used in these sentences and why? Pupils make the rule about some, any

  • Ex.1 p.42 – say whether the tramp used each of these things to make soup

He used some water.

He didn’t use any crisps.

  • Consolidation of some and any ( cards with ex-s for pupils)

  • Relaxation

A song “If you’re happy” - singing and doing exercises

  • The continuation of the work with story

  • Answer the questions to the text;

  • Find the beginning of the sentences read and translate;

  • Translate the sentences into English

  • Complete the sentences, look at the picture and number them (retelling the story according to the pictures)

  • Find 11 ingredients, which have been put in the soup, do the word square (pupils are given word squares)

  • There is one more task: odd the words out & explain why.

  • Imagine we are in the kitchen. There is a cupboard with food & drinks. Write five things of food & drinks, don’t show them to your partner. Pair work .

Have you got any crisps?

No, I haven’t got any crisps.

Yes, I have got some crisps.

  • When we go shopping, we usually make shopping list. So do Megan & Sam. Let’s listen to their conversation and make the shopping list. The second listening – underline what they don’t need.

  • Home task. Role play “The Stone Soup”

The first group – narrator

The second group – old woman

The third group – tramp

  • The end of the lesson.

  • Reflection
