The theme of the lesson:   Step Four “ Holidays”

The aims of the lesson:

  1. to teach the pupils to get the main information while reading the text to improve hearing skills.

2. to develop visual and oral memory attention and enlarge the

    vocabulary stock speaking about the holidays in Britain.

3.  to support pupils’ interest to the lesson using various kinds of

     activities.

Type of Lesson: Getting new information 

Visual aids: a tape recorder, a textbook, level cards, pictures, interactive board

Methods and techniques: work with tape, spider – map, the game “Light the star”,

                                               True or false, answer the questions.

- Now, let’s check your home task. Our home task is Ex:13. to answer the questions. You can see these questions on the board.

And to write “Gardening in Kazakhstan”.

YI. Summarizing of the new lesson.

- Pupils, you know today we will speak about holidays of Britain .

Now, pupils there are some holidays. Let’s divide into 2 groups. Your task is to read, translate and match the holidays and the informations using our new words.

  1. January 1 - New Year’s Day. A

  2. February 14 – St. Valentine’s Day. D

  3. March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day. F

  4. October 31 – Halloween. B

  5. November – Thanksgiving. C

  6. December 25 – Christmas day. E

- Let’s write. Ex : 3, p.90. To add these words to the word map:

Holidays:

parties, play a trick

Things we give and receive:

cards, sweets, flowers, money, gifts






Celebrations






Special occasion activities:

wear, cover, knock, gather, decorate.

Special food:

roast turkey, pudding, potatoes, pumpkin pie

  4. When is Bonfire Night?

  5. What is the guy made of?

  6. What is your favourite holiday?

7. What do you usually do?

- Well, pupils, today we learnt a lot. We learnt some new words and we spoke about the holidays in Britain and in Kazakhstan. I hope you liked today’s lesson. Thank you for your activeness.

- Your homework is ex:8. Answer the questions and to write about the most interesting holidays in our country.
