The theme: Sports and games in Kazakhstan and Great Britain

Aims: a)to develop speaking skills

b)to enlarge pupil ‘s vocabulary

c)to teach to express their own opinion

d)to broaden their outlook

e)to teach to work in team.

Methods: group work

Visual aids: presentation, cards

The procedure of the lesson:

  1. Organization moment.
  1. Greeting.
  2. Psychological training

– Good afternoon, children!
- How are you today?
- Who is on duty today?
- Who is absent today?

  1. Check up home task through active vote.
  2. Basic part of the lesson.
  1. Yes, you are right. Now let’s do the next task. Divide pictures into 2 groups.

Kazakhstan sports:

-kyz kuu

-audaryspak

-tenge alu

-kokpar

-togyzkumalak

-arkan tartys

-asyk atu

Graet Britain sports:

-cricket

-soccer

-rugby

-squash

-golf

-boat racing

-badminton 

Now you divide into two teams. One team take place at the table with the flag of Kazakhstan, the other team at the table with the flag of Great Britain. Take the cards on the table and take place. Please, choose a speaker and timekeeper in each team.

  1. To show the video about sport and games in Kazakhstan and Great Britain.
  2. Answer the questions. Ok. Let’s listen Kamilla. She prepared about Sport in Kazakhstan.
  3. Game: “Right” and “Wrong” chairs. You see two chairs, one is for “right”, the other for “wrong”. You see some pictures. I say for example: “Children play football”. If it’s right you sit on the chair “right” and say: “It’s right. Children play football”. If it’s wrong you sit on the chair “wrong” and say: “It’s wrong. Children don’t play football, they swim”. Please, go to the board (name one pupil from each team).
  4. Well done. The next task will be pair work. You have dialogues, let’s read it. So you must make up your own dialogue. Then you must retell your dialogue in group, and after choose the best dialogue, and retell it to the class.
  5. Concluding stage.
  1. Good job. And now you must make posters.

II team: Sporty person

  1. “Think way”.  Write, please, one noun, two verbs, 3 adjectives, one sentence and one synonym.
  1.  Feedback. “Two stars, one wish”.
  2. Home task. To write an essay about your favourite sport.
