4. Define the AIMS of the lesson.

Complete the sentences with the words:

Right, today we’ll review shopping vocabulary and different shops names, you’ll practice speaking and listening, then we’ll write short sentences about different shops and talk a little bit.

Introduce different shops:
- elicit names of shops and buildings students already know
- make a list on the board
- give clues if necessary
- give out worksheet (1) and ask students to label the pics. (1a for weaker students, 1 b for stronger ones)
Speaking practice
Review how to ask and to answer (…excuse me, have you got? …can I have? … yes, sure, here you are)
Nominate one child to run the bakery, the café, the newsagent and the chemist
Seat each one at separate table with a sign for his/her shop
Give them pictures of the items they sell (2B-E)
Give other children one of the six shopping lists (2.A)
Demonstrate that each one should visit different shops and buy the item from their lists
All children should finish at the café where we check their shoppings
Reading
Give out worksheet (3) and ask to sort out shopping into the right columns
Ask children to read what they’ve got
Writing
Worksheet (4)
Demonstrate how to make, putting a version on the board, then give out worksheet (4) and ask to complete the sentences
As homework ask to write original sentences after the gaps 1 and 2.
6. Making an interview
TV Program: 5 minutes with Me.
Today we are going to learn about the most popular shops and item bought in Cherepovets (other cities and towns are possible)
Let’s make questions for our interview.
How often … you go shopping?
What Cherepovets shops … you visit more often?
What … you usually buy their?

Appoint the interviewer and his helper who is going to count the answers and make conclusions about the most popular shops and item bought in Cherepovets.
