У рок английского языка

для 8 класса на тему:

«Press in Great Britain»

Цель урока: активизировать лексику по теме «Mass Media: good or bad», обогащать словарный запас обучающихся. Формировать лексические и грамматические навыки монологической и диалогической речи по теме «Press in Britain». Развивать навыки восприятия на слух и чтения с полным пониманием текста; развивать внимание и образное мышление, речь, творческие способности обучающихся. Воспитывать культуру чтения книг и печатной прессы, интерес к дальнейшему знакомству со СМИ Великобритании.

Тип урока: комбинированный

Обородувание: ноутбук, проектор, микрофон, презентация, видеоматериал, учебники, тексты, тестовые задания на отдельных листах.



Ход урока:

І. Организационный момент

ІІ. Актуализация опорных знаний.

Речевая разминка. Введение в тему урока.

Теасhеr: Good morning, dear children! I am glad to see you! We continue speaking on our topic “Mass media: good or bad” and today we are going to talk about Press in Great Britain. First of all, let’s revise some irregular verbs and answer the questions.

Irregular Verbs:

    • choose – (chose – chosen - выбирать); - иметь - (have – had - had);

    • drive – (drove – driven – вести авто); - получать - (get – got - got);

    • read – (read – read – читать); - давать - (give – gave - given);

    • write – (wrote – written - писать); - понимать (understand – understood -

understood);

    • meet – (met – met - встречать); - знать - (know – knew - known);

    • think – (thought - thought - думать); - находить - (find – found – found);

    • forget – (forgot – forgotten – забывать); - выигрывать (win – won – won).

Questions:

  • What does mass media include?

  • What kind of mass media do you prefer? Why?

  • What is the most popular of them nowadays in your opinion?

  • Do you often read newspapers?

  • What about your parents?

  • Does your family read local newspapers? What are they?

  • What English newspapers do you know?

  • Have you ever read a newspaper in English?

  1. Проверка домашнего задания.

Teacher: First of all let’s check your home task. What was it?

Pupil: We had to write a letter about Russian newspapers and magazines to our foreign pen-friend.

Teacher: Very good. Let’s listen to one of them and the other compositions will be handed in.

Pupil 1: (read).

Teacher: What did you understand from your classmate’s letter?

Pupils: (answer).

Teacher: Thank you. Now hand in your compositions. I’ll check them for the next lesson.

Teacher: Тоday I want you to watch the presentation and listen to the text about press in Great Britain. I hope it will be interesting and you’ll learn a lot on this topic. Be ready to do some tasks after all. Try to remember as much information as possible.

(Показ презентации).

Text “British Press”

There are two kinds of newspapers in Britain. The first kind is large and has many detailed articles about national and international events. These newspapers are called serious papers or quality papers. The other kind, called the tabloids are smaller in size, have more pictures and shorter articles, often about less important events or about the private lives of well-known people. Though some people disapprove tabloids, they are quite popular. Many people buy tabloids like The Sun which is the biggest-selling newspaper in Britain.

In all parts of the country there are also papers giving information about films, concerts and other things that are happening in the local area. Some local newspapers are free. These contain a lot of advertisements and some news. National serious newspapers like The Times or The Daily Telegraph generally give information about events happening in London. Most national newspapers express a political opinion.

Daily newspapers are published on every day of the week except Sunday. However Sunday newspapers are larger than daily ones. They often have 2 or 3 sections. All Sunday newspapers are national.

Divide the given newspapers into two columns: Quality papers and Tabloids. Open your copy-books and write today’s date (число пишут обучающиеся на доске и в тетрадях, после 2 обучающихся выполняют задание на доске, а остальные – в тетрадях).

Teacher: And now we are going to watch an interview of one British journalist. Watch attentively and be ready to talk on it after the watching.

(Просмотр интервью о лохнесском чудовище, подготовленном и записанном обучающимися заранее).

Teacher: We've watched the interview about Nessie the monster and now answer my questions:

    1. What is Loch Ness?

    2. Where is this lake situated?

    3. How do people call the strange dragon?

    4. What does it look like?

    5. Who was the first to write about the Lochness monster?

    6. What is your opinion about the Lochness monster: is it a real creature or not?

(Обучающиеся дают ответы на вопросы).

Teacher: Your home task is to write an article about the Lochness monster Nessie.



  1. Итог урока.

Teacher: Today you’ve learned much about press in Great Britain. You worked well and I liked your answers. At home you are to find some information about our local newspapers (домашнее задание учитель пишет на доске).

Teacher: Now our foreign journalist Sally Winter (обучающаяся того же класса, которая подготовила интервью о Несси) will ask you some questions for our school newspaper.

Sally Winter: 1. Why do people call England “Foggy Albion”?

  1. What British newspapers have you remembered from today’s lesson?

  2. What Russian newspapers do you know?

  3. What local newspapers do you remember?

  4. What are your impressions from our today’s lesson?
