Read the textwith minimum support using visuals

practice speaking with present simple forms.

Read the text, spell some familiar high frequency words, answer the questionswithout support using visuals

Reading “Tim’s letter”

Teacher: I have got a letter from Tim. He likes to play games.

Teacher gives a letter to each leaner.

  1. Read the letter to yourselves and answer the question: “What games does Tim like to play?”

  2. Now read the letter aloud. Don’t forget about the rules of reading.

Tim’s Letter.

I am Tim. I am little. I like to play funny games. Leapfrog is a funny game. I like to play tag, hopscotch and hide-and-seek. It’sfun.

Speaking

  1. Answer the questions:
    Do you like to play games?
    What games do you like to play?

  2. Tell what games you like to play and explain why?

GameTheMime
  • Before the class,teacher writes out some actions - like playing football in the park - and put them in a bag.

  • Split the class into two teams.

  • Bring one student from each team to the front of the class and one of them choose an action from the bag.

  • Have both students mime the action to their team.

  • The first team to shout the correct answer wins a point.

  • Repeat this until all students have mimed at least one action

Feedback: Leaners share their ideas. Teacher monitors their work and writes down the words with incorrect pronunciation on the board. Teacher drills the pronunciation of certain words.

Ask leaners if they like or dislike the story. Why? Why not?
