Why should we play this board games?

Chess

A popular board game in Russia is chess. Chess is a game for two players. The aim of the game is to trap your opponent’s king. White is always first to move and players take turns moving one piece at a time. Each type of piece has its own moves. This game is a good exercise for our brain.

Jigsaw puzzle

One of the most popular board game among children in my country is a jigsaw puzzle. Everyone can play it. There are many pieces. Each piece usually has a small part of a picture on it. The aim of the game is to put the pieces together to make a complete picture. The picture can show nature, cartoon characters, or other interesting things. This game is a good exercise for our brain and it helps to relax.

Checkers

I think the most popular board game in my country is checkers. The aim of the game is “to eat” all checkers of your partner. Each player has 12 checkers at the beginning of the game. Usually one player has white checkers and the other has black. There are 2 players who play on opposite sides of the game board diagonally |daɪ 'æɡənəli| to an unoccupied | ʌn 'ɑ :kjupaɪd| (не занятый) square by turn. A player can capture | 'kæptʃər| (захватить) an opponent’s piece by jumping over it. The player, who loses all his pieces or can’t move because the opponent has blocked him, loses the game. This game is a good exercise for our brain.

I have got the envelopes for each team. Take it, please. What can you see? Sheets of papers! It is a text. Your task is to put in order the sentences and then read the text.

Работа над проектами.

On the desk you have markets, flipcharts and glue. How do you think what will you do? Yes, you must do project! We have 3 groups. Each of groups will be responsible for one of the games.

Now we have 5 minutes to prepare your projects. Every groups goes to the blackboard, hangs the project on it.
