Plural nouns

We pronounce – s like [s] when nouns end with: f,k,p,t. e.g: books.

We pronounce -s like [z] when nouns end with: b,g,v,m,n,l,r,d + vowels. E.g: hands

We pronounce –es like [iz] when nouns end with: -x,ss.ch.sh. e.g: boxes

when the noun ends inds in –y, we change y to I and pronounce –ies like [iz]. E.g: babies


Ex 1 p 66 Read correctly the endings: [s],[z],[iz].

Dolls, flowers, dresses, cities, monkeys, shops, glasses, buses, lunches, wishes, taxis, babies, cats, eggs, desks, stories, families. Individual work.

Ex 2p 66 Read the text. Make sure you reads the endings correctly.

I like going shopping with my grany. Yesterday we went to a big shopping centre. We bought a book of stories for my little sisters, two pairs of jeans for me, two pairs of glasses for my granny. We saw a lot of mums with their babies and there were a lot of families there. After that we went to a supermarket and bought some carrots and peaches, some eggs and kiwis. I like shopping with my granny.

Ex 3 p 67 Look at the pictures and answers. Then listen and read. Read the text with

  2. Summer in Turgen is hot. Summer in Aktobe is not very hot

  3. Aktobe is a very busy city. Turgen village is not a very basy place.
