Grade: 4 "B"

Theme: My city

Aims:

Educational: to enrich pupils’ knowledge about our city Almaty, to enlarge pupils’ vocabulary, to teach pupils to count till 1000.

Developing: to develop pupils’ reading and listening skills.

Bringing- up: to motivate pupils' in learning foreign language.

Methods: work in groups, QSA sessions.
The type of the lesson: mixed.
Equipments and visual aids: pictures, tape recorder+CD, toys, interactive blackboard.
Intersubject communication: Kazakh language.

Good morning, dear boys and girls!
How are you?
Who is on duty today? What day is it today?
What date is it today? What season is it now?
What is the weather like today?

How did you spend your winter holidays? What did you do?
Are you ready for the lesson?

If you are ready let's start our lesson!

III. Phonetic drill: rr [r]

All together repeat after me:

berry - жидек cherry -шие

carry - алып жүру, көтеру hurry - асығу

mirror - айна sorry - кешіріңіз

squirrel - тиын lorry - жүк көлігі

Write down into your copybooks:

thousand - мың

hundred - жүз

fountain - фонтан, бұрқақ

monument – ескерткіш

street - көше (екі жағында үйлер орналасқан көше)

avenue – даңғыл (ағаштар өсірілген кең көше, әсіресе АҚШ-та)

nearby - жақын жерде

Spell the word.

V. Working with text.

Listen to the Ex.5 on page 69.

- Alice, do you know that Almaty has got about 1500 streets?

- Really? Tell me something interesting about your city.

- There are 32 museums and a lot of libraries here.

- There are about 120 fountains and many monuments in the city.

- Sure. I live at number 113, Abylay Khan avenue. There is a monument nearby.

- What does "akyn" mean.?

- An akyn is a poet who can sing and play the dombra.

Find the sentences with numbers and read them.

Now, can you answer, how many fountains are there in Almaty? How many streets are there in Almaty? How many museums are there in Almaty?

VI. Remember.

100 - one hundred 13- thirteen

200 - two hundred 27 - twenty-seven

300 - three hundred 35 - thirty-five

400 - four hundred 49 - forty-nine

500 - five hundred 50 - fifty

600- six hundred 64 - sixty-four

700- seven hundred 72 - seventy-two

800 - eight hundred 86 - eighty-six

900- nine hundred 93 - ninety-three

1000 - one thousand 12 - twelve

Write down these numbers into your copybooks.

Let's revise numbers:

from 13-19 we add -teen
20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 for the first number we add -ty
21, 47 twenty-one, forty-seven should write with hyphen (-)
245 should write with and - two hundred and forty-five

Come to the blackboard and write down the numbers.

14 - fourteen

26 - twenty-six

365 - three hundred and sixty-five

405 - four hundred and five

70 - seventy

Now vice-verse:

seven hundred and thirty-two - 732

nine hundred and sixteen - 916

two hundred and seventy-eight - 278 etc.

VII. Speaking. Exercise 7, p.71.

Look at the pictures, read the example and make your own sentences.

F.e.: Alice lives at number 113, Abylai khan avenue

Abylai khan was a famous khan.

There is a monument to Abylai khan in Almaty.

VIII. Conclusion of the lesson:

Let's make a conclusion of our lesson. I will say you numbers you should write it into your copybooks in written form. 34, 87, 500, 300, 456, 13, 900, 17, 1000, 283.
