Цель урока:
Знакомство с традицией празднования Рождества ;
Формирование социокультурной компетенции и интереса к культуре и традициям .
Задачи:
Расширить словарный запас учащихся;
Сформировать навыки монологической речи (с опорой на картинку, ключевые слова)
Развивать языковую догадку при чтении незнакомого текста с опорой на картинку:
Сформировать и развивать УУД (работа в парах; самоконтроль).

Компьютер, раздаточный материал, ИД.

Текст песни «We wish you a Merry Christmas», наглядности, ЛСС как содержательная опора для высказывания .
a ) Before the lesson, decorate your classroom with decorations and Pp’s mini-projects ( New Year cards, invitation cards, letters, resolutions) and pictures, tinsels, other Christmas decorations.
b ) You can make the programme for your Christmas party beforehand. You can choose from the ones suggested in the book ( Ex.2 p. 61 ) or think of your own activities.
c ) Prepare crackers for the Cracker Salute and counters for the groups in different colors for the 1-st, 2-nd and 3-d places.
d ) Divide the class into groups.

I. The Cracker Salute
It will be great fun for Pp to pull Christmas crackers.
a ) Put the crackers into a box, and each P chooses one when entering the room.
b ) . The Cracker Salute will signal the beginning of the party.
II. Music
To motivate Pp begin the party with a Christmas song” Jingle Bells”. They sing together Christmas Songs –

a ) Hand out a sheet of paper to each participant. Fix a time limit of five to seven minutes. Ask Pp to work first individually, then in pairs or groups. They read the questions and write short answers on the answer sheets.

Hand out a sheet of paper with the task to each group. They think and write down the words related to the topic Christmas that begin with each letter of the word Christmas. Give each group counters for the 1-st, 2-nd and 3-d places.

V Christmas cards
Pp read the invitation cards, Christmas or New Year cards with greetings they have designed and written for the party and choose the best ones.
a ) Each group gets some cards.
b ) Pp read and choose the one(s) they like best ( the best design, the most interesting text).
- At the end of the lesson Pp exchange the New Year cards they have prepared for each other.

1.What things do you need to make the Christmas pudding?
In Lesson 5 Pp wrote New Year resolutions for their homework. They didn’t sign them. Play a Guessing game: Pp read the resolutions and guess who might have written them. This game could help you to see how well Pp know each other. Give each group counters for 1-st, 2-nd and 3-d places.
VIII Christmas wishes
Pp make wishes from jumbled sentences. Fix the time limit of two to three minutes. At the end of activity they read their Christmas wishes aloud. Each group gets counters a for 1-st, 2-nd and 3-d places.

Wishing you a Christmas filled with love and friendship.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
With best withes for Christmas and the New Year.
VIII Music
Pp sing a song “We wish you a merry Christmas”. Pp sing the song all together. Give them counters.
IX Poets
Pp read the poem in the book Ex.4 p.61 and fill in the gaps with the words: boys, tree, tea, toys.
X Christmas Bag
a ) Prepare small presents for Pp, such as pencils, pens, sharpeners, small toys, stickers or the like.
b) You can wrap each presents in paper to make it a surprise. Put the presents in a Christmas Bag.
At the end of the lesson Pp could choose the most active participants.
