1. The beginning of the lesson.

Good morning, dear pupils! I am glad to see you . I hope you are fine and ready to work hard at our lesson, aren’t you? So, let’s start.

Create an enjoyable atmosphere of foreign speaking.

1. Warming up

- As you see the topic is “Success in Life”. I know for sure there are no people who wouldn't like to be successful.

-Do you agree with me?

-So, we are going to discuss some aspects of achieving this aim.

-First, please, try to explain your understanding of this phenomena.

-How would you define the word?

-O.K. Now look at the definition, taken from Longman dictionary.(slide1)

- Read the definition, please. (presentation)

-What can help you become successful in life?

-Look at this scheme and say if it includes your associations with the phenomena “success”. (slide2)

• Thanks. And what about some traits of character, which can either help you or prevent you from achieving your goals?

• Look at the list of traits of character. Your task is to match the definitions with the names and repeat the definitions. (slide3)

1. Someone who tends to work hard (industrious)

2. A person who is determined to be successful, rich, powerful (ambitious)

3. Someone who is determined to be more successful than other people (competetive).

4. Someone who can be trusted or depended on.(reliable)

5. liking to meet and talk to new people (outgoing)

6. A person who is nice and easy to like (likeable)

7. Someone who is reasonable, practical, able to judge things well (sensible)

8. willing to try to understand someone else's problems and give them any help they need (sympathetic)

9. behaving in a way that show you are happy for example by smiling or being very friendly (cheerful)
