Открытый урок по теме «At School» в 6-ом классе.

                                        Цели и задачи.

Обучающие задачи: развивать умения и навыки устной речи; учить рассказывать о своей школе, предметах в 6-ом классе; учить вести диалог по данной теме; развивать умения и навыки аудирования по теме; развивать навыки чтения.

Образовательные задачи: учить применять грамматический материал: Present Simple, в процессе обсуждения темы, учить использовать выражения каждодневного и классного обихода% расширять запас лексического материала.

Воспитательные задачи: воспитывать уважение к своей школе, предметам, учителям; воспитывать познавательный интерес к стране изучаемого языка, ее традициям, культуре.

Развивающие задачи: развитие навыков говорения, чтения, аудирования.

T. The bell has rung. The lesson has begun. Prepare for the lesson. Stand straight. Good morning, children. Sit down.

    Who is absent?
T. Children what are we going to speak about?
P1. We are going to speak about our school, subjects and English school.

  • Do you like to go to school?
  • What subjects do you have today?
  • English is your favorite subject, isn’t it?
  • What floor is your English room on?
  • There are many other rooms in our school, aren’t there?

II. Т. I think, we are ready to speak about our school. Let’s begin. Your task is to describe our school, which is on the picture.
                                                The 1st group is working.

 P1. In this picture we can see our school. The number of our school is 38.  Our school is a new one. It is 20 years old. It is large. It has four floors. It stands in Eniseyskaya Street.
T. Have you anything to add?
P2. Our school begins at 9. The classrooms are big and light.
                                             The 2d group is working.
T. Thank you. And now tell me please, what we can see on the ground floor.
P1. On the ground floor we can see a cloak-room. (presentation) When we come to school, we take off our coats and hats, raincoats and caps. On the ground floor we can also see a gymnasium. (presentation). In the gymnasium we have our physical training.
T. What else do we have on the ground floor?

P2. There are workshops on the ground floor too. Here the boys have their labour training. There is also a canteen on the ground floor. Every day after the 3d lesson we have our breakfast there.
T. Thank you. And where do you usually go if you have any health problems?
P2. Of course, to the medical room. Our nurse always helps us. Her name is Svetlana Evgenievna.
T. Is it all, or you have something to add?
P3. We’ve forgotten about our principal’s room. Her room is also on the ground floor. Our principal’s name is Olga Yurevna. Our secretary is sitting there too. Her name is Irina Vasilevna.
T. Thank you very much. You’ve given us full information about the ground floor in
our school. And now describe the 1st floor of our school.
                               The 3d group is working.
P1. On the 1st floor there are classrooms for the 1st, ad, 3d, and 4th forms. They are big, light and warm.
P2. A small gymnasium is also on the 1st floor. There schoolchildren have their physical training.
T. I think, that’s enough about the 1st floor. Let’s describe the 2d floor.
                               The 4th group is working.
P1. The classrooms for the other forms are on the 2d floor. Here there are classrooms for English, Mathematics, History, Russian and Literature. They are light and warm. Some of them are big and some of them are small.
T. Thanks. I’m satisfied with your answers. And at last the 3d floor. Some words about it, please.
                                 The 1st group is working.
P1. Classrooms for Foreign languages, Labour training for girls, Chemistry, Biology, Music, Arts, Geography and Physics are on the 3d floor.

III. T.  And now be ready to ask questions. (Cl-P)
Imagine the situation. A new pupil has just come to your class. You want to know as much as possible about his school. Ask him questions.
T. Slava, I want you to be a new pupil. Go to the blackboard and try to answer new friеnds’ questions.

  • Is your school large or small?
  • Is your school new or old?
  • What school are you from?
  • How many floors are there in your school? etc

  3. We write on the blackboard. We write in our exercise-books. The teacher may ask, “How much is five plus twenty?” We answer “It is twenty five”.
  4. At this lesson we read texts and poems. Sometimes we learn poems by heart. Our teacher asks us questions and we discuss many problems. We don’t speak English at this lesson.
  5. At this lesson the pupils use maps and atlases, they learn many interesting things about rivers, mountains, seas and lakes.

  • Usually we read texts, answer the questions, learn new worlds and poems, speak English, describe pictures. Often we make up the dialogues.

T. I have one more question to you. How do you think are schools in England the same as in Russia?
P. I think, they are not the same.
T. You are quite right. And now we’ll read the text “ Schools in England” and answer the question:

What kinds of school are there in England?
Text “School in England”
School in England are not the same as in Russia. Children begin to go to school when they are five. From five to seven they are in infant school. An infant school is like a kindergarten. The children draw, sing and listen to the stories which the teacher reads to them. In these schools children begin to learn to read and write.
From seven to eleven children in England go to a junior school. In this school the children learn to read, write and to do sums.
From eleven to sixteen boys and girls in England go to a secondary school. They begin to study in form one. The sixth form is the last form in this school. They have many subjects in their timetable. They are English, English Literature, a foreign language, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physics, Biology, Woodwork, Music.
In England schoolchildren do not go to school on Saturdays and Sundays.
