The theme of the lesson: “ Astana”.

The aim of the lesson: presentation new lexical points, practicing grammatical skills, giving new information about Astana, to develop pupils’ imagination and practical skills: pronunciation, reading, speaking.

The objectives of the lesson:

Educational: presentation new material, teaching pupils speak about Astana, encouraging students’ practical skills, making exercises, watching video “Astana’ , listening the dialogue.

Developing: pupils’ creative and logical abilities, understanding, reading, speaking, pupils’ outlook

Bringing-up: bringing up love, interest to the subject and to other cultures, creating a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere in the classroom.

Let’s start our lesson with phonetic drill. For the phonetic drill we shall take a poem.

7. Describe Astana.

G: Hello! My name is…. This is your group of tourists. They are from different countries, welcome to the bus. We are starting our journey around Astana. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. It is the central part of the country on the river Esil. It has a population of over seven hundred thousand people. Today we shall see the Entertainment center of Duman , Akhorda , and many, many other sights. Look at the screen and continue listening the information about Astana. What do you now about Astana?

P: There are a several museums in Astana. The largest ones are museums of History and Seiphullin Museum. Astana is famous for its theatres.

P: The best known is the Opera and ballet theatre by Kulyash Baiseitova. There are a lot of green parks and libraries in Astana.

G: Oh, dear friends look here. Who wants to tell us about Baiterek?

P: It is a symbol of the capital. The monument is a symbol of free Kazakh according to the legend, Baiterek is the sacred bird Samruk. Monument Baiterek was opened in 2002.

G: Dear friends, we are passing the entertainment center of Duman.

P: The Aquarium of the Entertainment center Duman is the first and the only in the Kazakhstan , which is located over 3000 km. away from the ocean . The volume of water in our aquarium is 3 million liters and we needed 12 tons of special sea salt to produce this water. More than 2000 of sea inhabitants of 100 species of sea fauna from different parts of the world live there.

G: Dear friends, look at the Akhorda.

P: Five years after anointment of the new capital of Kazakhstan the official presentation of the palace of the President Akhorda happend.

G: Dear friends, look at the Pyramid of Peace.

P: The pyramid was built by architect sir Norman Foster. The first inauguration of the President was in September 2006.

G: Where are you from?

P: I am from London. London is the capital of England. It lies on the river Thames. It has a population of over 8 million people. London is famous for its historic places The Tower, Westminster Abby, Trafalgar Square and Big-Ben.

P: I am from Washington D.C. Washington D.C is the capital of the United States of America. The city was named after the first President George Washington.

P: I am from Actobe. It is a beautiful city. From Kazakh it has a tradition “a white hill”. Actobe is a cultural center. My favourite place to go is Mega Actobe.
