Warm-up: -Who are the important people in your life?Elicit students’ answers to this question,eg .my mum,my best friend,my dad. -ask students to open their books,look at the picture and say what they can see in it. -put the students in small groups.Give the a minute to answer the three questions.point out that only the first of the three questions has an obvious answer. -Check answers -Tell students that the theme of unit 3 is family and friends. Activity 1 -Distribute photos of your own friends and family around the classroom and ask students work in pairs to guess the identities of the people in them,e.g.I think this is your dad. -Introduce the topic by asking students if they have a collection of photos of their friends and familyonline and which photo websites .e.g.Instagram. Activity 2: Discussion Divide students into pairs,let them tell each other about their best friend at school, and out of school. Is it the same person? Then let them discuss these sayings. Do they agree with them? Ask if there are any similar sayings in Kazakh or Russian. -Ask students to open their books at page 27 and look at Sarah Wood’s family tree.Make sure they identify Sarah with caption ;me Listening: -Ask students to complete this exercise .You should turn this task into a game by asking groups to complete to be the first to complete the text correctly. -Play the recording . -Students listen to it,check their answers to ex 1 and repeat the words.encourage students to mimic the pronunciation they hear. Fast finishers:Vocabulary Bank on p 118 and family and friends activity. -Read the example then ask students to work in pairs to match the remaining words in pairs of opposites. -Then ask them to complete the remaining ones. -Students compare answers with partners. -Give the students three minutes to draw their own family tree. -Read out the example sentences and ask student to tell their partner about the people in their family tree.they should add any information they can…t.g.age ,hair colour. -Do the warm-up activity.using CD player.
