Continents and Countries.

The objectives of the lesson:

  1. To teach pupils to get information while reading the text, to know words, phrases:

  2. To develop reading, writing. Speaking skills, thinking.

  3. To arouse their interest in learning English, to be active, curios, attentive.

Material: cards, a map, pictures, blackboard, text-book.

MT: visual, wordy, practical.

The procedure of the lesson….

І. Organization moment:

Brainstorming. At the previous lesson we spoke about continents and countries. Today we shall revise the material. We got some new information about the world around us. Now answer my questions:

  1. What is the name of the planet we live on?

  2. What will you be able to see if you look at the Earth from the space? (land, seas, oceans, continents and even countries)

  3. Now many oceans are there on your planet? (4)

  4. Now how many continents are there? What are they? (6); (Europe and Asia, Africa, America, Australia, Antarctic).

  5. What seperates the continents from each other? (oceans, seas).

  6. There are many countries on each continent, aren’t there?

  7. What is the largest country in the world? (Russia)

  8. What is the smallest country where there is only one country? (Australia)

We have just said that there are any countries on the continents. People of different nationalities live in different countries. So look at the table. I wrote only the names of countries. You must write nationality and language.

II. Name the capitals of the following countries:

Kazakhstan - Astana

Great Britain – London

Russia – Moscow

Canada – Ottawa

France – Paris

India – Delhi

Italy – Rome

China – Peking

Australia – Canberra

Spain – Madrid

III. Will do some translation work:

  1. Земля круглая.

  2. Солнце встает на востоке, а садиться на западе.

  3. Есть четыре океана и шесть континентов.

  4. Континенты очень большие.

  5. Обычно бывает много стран на континентах.

  6. Откуда Анна родом? Она из Франции. Она родилась в Париже.

  7. Французский – ее родной язык.

  8. Какого цвета национальный флаг Казахстана?

ІV. I magine that you are at the International conference. Say what your name (nationality) is, where you from are and what language you speak:

Aigerim / Kazakhstan

Garmen / Spain

Lorance / France

Nore / Great Britain

Tony / Italy

George / Canada

Lisa / Germany

Ahmad / Egypt

Dasha / Russia

V. This is a dialogue between Robort and Alice. I wrote sentences on the shees of paper. I want some pupils to come here and take one. You must find your place in the dialogue .
