So, what important event is connected with the 13^th of February?

7) Semen Novgorodov was born on 13.02. in Churapchinskii district Khatyly. 8)He was a well-known linguist and politician but 9) he is famous for his first Yakut alphabet. That alphabet was based on Latin letters.

His family was quite rich. His parents were Andrey and Anna. They had 10 children and Semen was the 6^th. 11) They were livestock farmers (His family had a lot of cows and horses).

How many people do you know who can’t read and write?

12) Imagine, at that time almost nobody could read and write, especially the Yakut.

That’s why he decided to help the Yakut and created the first alphabet.
