Презентация "Unusual Kinds of Sport"

This is just incredible what people can invent when they are bored! This may seem funny at first sight – but people play sports! Even such unusual kinds of sport. And what of this? The main thing is that everybody is in a good mood. For example, Sol Neelman made this his hobby. And now he doesn`t regret about it.

Sol Neelman is a photographer. He used to work in ”The Oregonian newspaper”. However he quit his job in 2007. But Sol was glad he had much time to visit different unusual sports competitions and take photos during them. As for me, I have never seen such weird kinds of sport before! So enjoy the photos!

1. Chessboxing is a hybrid sport. The match begins with a chess round, which lasts four minutes. The next round is boxing, and so on, until one of the competitors wins by a knockout or a checkmate.

2. Mud ball, the cleanest kind of sport ever!

3. The meeting of the Highlanders. People with Scottish roots gather to find out more about their ancestors.

4. “Evel Knievel days” festival in honour of Evel Knievel (Robert Craig Knievel) in Butte, Montana.

5. Golfers gather on the streets to celebrate World Urban Golf Day, playing with tennis balls.

6. Summer Redneck Games, East Dublin, Georgia. There is nothing better than this!

7. Underwater hockey, which is also called Octopush or Water Hockey. This kind of sport was invented in 1954 by four English divers, who wanted to remain in good shape during winter months, when the sea was too cold.

8. The Duelist League, the members of which struggle using cardboard tubes, Gas Works Park, Seattle.

9. Wrestlers, wearing different masks and trying to look like animals, gods, ancient heroes and other personalities.

10. Big Wheel Race in San Francisco. The participants are as happy as only little children can be!

11. Pig and Ford Race. It`s held in Tillamook County, Oregon. The race was invented in 1925, when a pig ran away from its owners at the fair, and they were trying to catch it. The farmers were driving Ford then.

12. Knockout game in Manhattan. This was the biggest game as 712 people with 600 balls took part in it!

13. “Tough Guy” is played at the end of January in England. You can see that this is a really dangerous kind of sport.

14. “Dirty Race” is an obstacle course, which is not so easy to navigate…

15. Pancake Day in Liberal, Kansas. The members are running with their pancakes, throwing them upwards. This is a friendly competition with Olney, England.

16. “Crashed ice” includes ice hockey, downhill and snowboard cross.

17. The annual race in toilet cubicles in the suburbs of Washington.
