Shakespeare wrote about love, hateness, evil. His plays show a great understanding of human activities of all kinds. In them he very skillfully uses many different literary styles to express a wide rang of emotions.

VI. There has always been much speculation about the biographical meaning of the story of Shakespeare’s sonnets but no one has ever produced a convenient theory connecting it with the facts of Shakespeare’s life. The situations and relationships suggested in the sonnets are best understood as the fictional means through which Shakespeare explores universal question about time and death, about beauty and moral integrity, about love and about poetry itself.
There are 154 sonnets, which W. Shakespeare wrote. The first half is devoted to his friend (nobody knows, who he was) and the second part of the sonnets is devoted to a woman. Who was she? Nobody knows her name. One Shakespeare’s critic called her “A dark woman” – смуглая леди. May be it was his love or even English Queen, or any other woman; Shakespeare doesn’t call her name.
Let’s listen to the sonnet № 40 (English text and Russian one translated by one of the pupils).
Sonnet № 21
Sonnet № 90 (Звучит песня в исполнении Аллы Пугачевой).
