Чтение: Ex1. If you set the background information as a homework research task, ask the student to tell the class what they found out. In pairs, students discuss which method of communication they use most, and then advantages and disadvantages of each method. You may like give to give some ideas of your own to get them started. Listen to some of their thoughts in open class as feedback. Tell students they are going to hear somebody talking about different methods in the box are not mentioned. As you check answers, ask students to describe each of the methods of communication. Students think about the advantages of the communication methods in Exercise 1b and decide which they think is most effective. Divide the class into pairs and ask them to discuss their ideas. Circulate and monitor to help with any questions. Listen to some of their ideas in open class and encourage further discussion.

Ex2. Read the questions and listen to students answers. You may like to ask students what they think the advantages of being a twin are. Tell students they are going to read an article about communication between twins. Students read the text quickly to find the answers to the questions. Tell them it is not important to understand every word. Read through the sentences with students and check understanding. Pre-teach some of the more difficult words. Students read the text again and listen, them decide if the statements are true or false, and correct any false statements. Students check their answers with a partner before feedback.

Чтение: Ex1. Students discuss the questions and make a list of some fictional animals. Listen to some of their ideas in open class. Ask them which fictional animal they like best and why. Tell students they are going to read a story about a dog. Look at the pictures with students ask them to guess what might happen in the story. Students match the phrases with the pictures. Students decide on the best order for the pictures, then try and tell the first part of the story. Circulate and help with vocabulary as necessary, but don’t comment on their ideas at this stage. Play the recording. Students read and listen to check their answers to Exercise 1c.

Ex6. Ask students which adjectives from the warm up are real characteristics of a good friend. Elicit loyal and check students understanding the meaning. Students read and complete the questionnaire. Help students with difficult vocabulary.

Ex2. Tell the students they are going to read a web page where four teenagers talk about their part time jobs. Students read the text to find out which fields the teenagers want to work in. Check students understand the meaning of the sentence. Encourage them to answer the questions from memory before reading and listening again to check.

Check comprehension and help with difficult vocabulary. Check answers. Students read the text and match the titles to the paragraph. Explain that one title is not used. Check answers and encourage students to give reasons. Students listen and check their answers.

Ex4. Students complete the questions and then add two more. Encourage them to use imagine suppose and say to introduce a possible situation. Monitor and check students are using the correct forms. Students then ask partners the questions. Ask a few students to tell the class about their answers. Discuss any interesting answers in class.

Ex5. Students match the words with the pictures. Encourage them to make a guess by using clues in the word. Play the recording to check answers and make sure students understand the meaning of the words. Explain that students are going to listen o a radio show about teenage crime and tick the crime mentioned. Tell them not to worry about any unknown vocabulary at this stage and encourage them to listen for the words in Exercise 5a. Play the recording and check answers.

Divide the class into pairs and ask them to discuss the incident at Roswell, using the information found in text A and B. Monitor and help with vocabulary.

Write the different linkers of contrast on the board and tell students that these words are also used to link contrasting sentences. Ask students to match the linkers with each sentence. Ex3. Read through the Look! Point out that in the negative form, not separates despite/in spite from the noun phrases or –ing form.

Ex4. Students answer the question with a partner. Discuss answers in open class but do not comment at this stage. Tell students they are going to listen to a radio show about the Loch Ness Monster. Students to the first part of the show and check their answers to the Exercise 4a. play the recording again, pausing where necessary. Check answers.

Ex5. Read through the information about conspiracy theories with students. Ask students which conspiracy theories the photo are related to. Students work in groups of four and choose a conspiracy theory they know. Ask them to prepare a small presentation outlining the arguments for and against the theory. Tell them to try and agree on the whether the support the theory or not. Give each group ten minutes to prepare their mini presentation and then ask them to report to the class. Discuss interesting theories and ask the class to vote on whether they believe the conspiracy theory or not.

Ex6. Books closed. Write sentences on the board. Students complete the sentences. Check answers and make sure students are pronouncing must be as.

Ex7. Ask students to read the text through once before they match the underlined words with the definitions, to get the general idea of the text. Students complete the sentences with words from the text in the correct forms. If necessary go through the first example with them. Monitor that students are using the correct forms. If students write the words in their vocabulary notebooks, they can use the sentences as examples. Students discuss serious problem they have had. Encourage students to listen carefully to heir partner without interrupting them.

Ex8. Ask students to look at the picture and to try to name animals. Check answers. Read through the questions with the class and check understanding. Ask students to read the text again and listen to find the answer. Students compare the answers with a partner before feedback. Ask them to give reasons for their answers.

Ex9. Tell students the story is about conspiracy theory. Students read the story quickly to answer the questions. Tell students not to worry about the meaning of every word. Read through the text with students, clarifying any difficult vocabulary. Check answers.

Ex10. Write the statement on the board. Divide the class into two groups. You might want to brainstorm ideas before students begin.

Students read and listen to the text and answer the questions.

Tell students they are going to listen to an interview with a historian. Play the recording students to listen and check their ideas from the previous exercise. Ask them to compare answers with a partner before checking in open class. Check answers with the class.

Ex5. Books closed. Write the sentences n the board. Ask students if they can finish the sentences with either of the questions we can’t answer about Stonehenge. Students work out the word order of each type of question. Students choose the correct opinions in the indirect questions. Students put the words in correct order.

Ex6. Tell students that indirect questions are useful as they often make a normal question more polite. Monitor and check that students are using the correct word order.

Чтение: Ex1. In pairs students discuss the questions. Ask students to tell the class their ideas. Look at the pictures are all connected with the story. In pairs students predict the content the story. Ask a few pairs to tell the class their partners. Students read the text quickly to check their ideas. Encourage them not to look up every new word but just to read and get the general idea of the text. Then students read the text and listen. Play the recording again. And ask students to listen for the answer to the questions.

Encourage students to use as many words as possible from Exercise 4b and 4e. listen to some of the descriptions in open class as feedback. You may like to expand questions 3 into a whole class discussion if students are interested in the topic.

Ex6. Students listen to the dialogue and put the pictures in the correct order. Tell students that the words in the box are reporting verbs. They are similar to say and tell but give more idea about the meaning of what someone said or how they said it.

Ex7. Remind students that reporting verbs are very useful alternative to say and tell. They make texts sound more information. Ask student to match the verbs to the definitions. Check answers. Tell students that reporting verbs have different patterns of grammar. Check answers and the meanings of the other verbs in the rule box. Students rewrite the sentences using the reporting verbs in the rule box and that they still need to use the normal. Rules of reported speech. Check answers and make sure students are changing the tenses and the pronouns of the original sentence appropriately.

Грамматика: Second conditional

Чтение: Ex1. Books open. In pairs ask students to look at the picture and discuss the questions in pairs. Listen to some of their ideas and encourage them to tell any stories they may have about. Tell students they are going to read two different texts about the same incident. Monitor and help student with vocabulary as necessary. Read through the instruction with students. Divide the class into pairs and ask them to discuss the incident at Roswell, using the information found in text A and B. Monitor and help with vocabulary.

Write the different linkers of contrast on the board and tell students that these words are also used to link contrasting sentences. Ask students to match the linkers with each sentence. Encourage to link contrasting sentences aloud to see if they sound correct. Students look at the sentences in Exercise 2a, and complete the rule and the examples in the rule box.

Ex3. Read through the Look! Point out that in the negative form, not separates despite/in spite from the noun phrases or –ing form.

Ex4. Students answer the question with a partner. Discuss answers in open class but do not comment at this stage. Tell students they are going to listen to a radio show about the Loch Ness Monster. Students to the first part of the show and check their answers to the Exercise 4a. play the recording again, pausing where necessary. Check answers.

Ex5. Read through the information about conspiracy theories with students. Ask students which conspiracy theories the photo are related to. Students work in groups of four and choose a conspiracy theory they know. Ask them to prepare a small presentation outlining the arguments for and against the theory. Tell them to try and agree on the whether the support the theory or not. Give each group ten minutes to prepare their mini presentation and then ask them to report to the class. Discuss interesting theories and ask the class to vote on whether they believe the conspiracy theory or not.

Ex6. Books closed. Write sentences on the board. Students complete the sentences. Check answers and make sure students are pronouncing must be as.

Ex7. Ask students to read the text through once before they match the underlined words with the definitions, to get the general idea of the text. Students complete the sentences with words from the text in the correct forms. If necessary go through the first example with them. Monitor that students are using the correct forms. If students write the words in their vocabulary notebooks, they can use the sentences as examples. Students discuss serious problem they have had. Encourage students to listen carefully to heir partner without interrupting them.

Ex8. Ask students to look at the picture and to try to name animals. Check answers. Read through the questions with the class and check understanding. Ask students to read the text again and listen to find the answer. Students compare the answers with a partner before feedback. Ask them to give reasons for their answers.

Ex9. Tell students the story is about conspiracy theory. Students read the story quickly to answer the questions. Tell students not to worry about the meaning of every word. Read through the text with students, clarifying any difficult vocabulary. Check answers.

Ex10. Write the statement on the board. Divide the class into two groups. You might want to brainstorm ideas before students begin.

Чтение: Ex1. Students open their books at page 74. Ask students to look at the photos and tell you if they know anything about the places. Elicit ideas from the class. Then ask students to read the text and see if they are correct. Encourage students not to look up every new word but just to read the text quickly to find the answer. Yu could give them two-minute time limit to encourage them. Read through the questions. Pre-teach any difficult words in the text. Play the recording. Students read and listen to the text and answer the questions.

When students have found the answers, ask them to compare with a partner. During feedback, encourage students to give reasons for their answers, ask them to compare for their answers and to try to elicit the sentences using past modals of deduction. Ask students to read the examples in Exercise 2a. Students complete the rule. Remind students there is a table of past participles. Student complete the sentences using a modal of deduction and the correct form of the verb. Check answers and ensure that students understand how using a different verb changes the meaning.

Ex4. In pairs or small groups, students look at the photograph and discuss the questions. Listen to some of their ideas in open class as feedback, but do not comment at this stage. Tell students they are going to listen to an interview with a historian. Play the recording students to listen and check their ideas from the previous exercise. Ask them to compare answers with a partner before checking in open class. Check answers with the class.

Ex5. Books closed. Write the sentences n the board. Ask students if they can finish the sentences with either of the questions we can’t answer about Stonehenge. Students work out the word order of each type of question. Students choose the correct opinions in the indirect questions. Students put the words in correct order.

Ex6. Tell students that indirect questions are useful as they often make a normal question more polite. Monitor and check that students are using the correct word order.

Чтение: Ex1. Students discuss the questions and make a list of some fictional animals. Listen to some of their ideas in open class. Ask them which fictional animal they like best and why. Tell students they are going to read a story about a dog. Look at the pictures with students ask them to guess what might happen in the story. Students match the phrases with the pictures. Students decide on the best order for the pictures, then try and tell the first part of the story. Circulate and help with vocabulary as necessary, but don’t comment on their ideas at this stage. Play the recording. Students read and listen to check their answers to Exercise 1c.

Устная речь и письмо графика: Ex2. Students read the sentences and identify the verb tenses. Point out the similar in construction between the past continuous and the present continuous. Read through the rules with students and ask them to complete sentences. Students complete the sentences using correct form of the verbs in brackets.

Ex3. Students read and listen to the second part of the story and find out what happened in the end. Elicit what mistake Llewellyn had made. Ask students if they enjoyed the story and if the ending of the story and if the ending of the story surprised them.

Ex4. Tell students they are going to listen to a girl telling the story they read. Play the recording and repeat if necessary.

Ex5. Read the sentences with the class. Elicit the construction of the past perfect tense. Read the questions with the class and elicit answers. Point out that we talk about an event in the past, we use the past simple. Students find other examples of the past perfect in the story in Exercise 3b. check answers. Students now read through and complete the rule.

Ex6. Ask students which adjectives from the warm up are real characteristics of a good friend. Elicit loyal and check students understanding the meaning. Students read and complete the questionnaire. Help students with difficult vocabulary.
