The theme of the lesson: “Trip to Kazakhstan”

The aims of the lesson:

  • to summarize pupil's knowledge about Kazakhstan;

  • to bring up pupil to respect and love for the Motherland (sense of patriotism);

  • to develop reading, speaking, writing;

  • to develop the ability to work in a group;

  • to repeat vocabulary by theme «native town».


Plan of the lesson

The beginning of the lesson

- Good day, boys and girls. I am glad to see you. Let's begin our lesson. I hope we will work well. We will enjoy the lesson. Please be active, friendly, and attentive. Don't interrupt each other. You should be quick. You have to do all exercise very quickly.

Presentation of the theme.

- Look at these pictures. What are these pictures?

- What can you see? What can you say?

- Describe these pictures. (The first picture is Astana. The second picture is Pavlodar. The third image is the nature of Kazakhstan, the steppe.)

- What unites these images? What is the main idea? What's the theme of the lesson? How do you think?



The main part of the lesson

- Today we are going to speak about Kazakhstan. We will have a conversation about Motherland, the sightseeing, the capital of Kazakhstan. We will repeat some grammar rules.



- What do you know about Kazakhstan, sightseeing of Kazakhstan, beautiful places in Kazakhstan? (“Basket of notions")

- You should name different concepts, notions, words belong to the theme “Kazakhstan”.

- Now I'll get some words from the basket that belong to the theme "Kazakhstan". You need to read and translate them: capital city, rivers, lakes, cities, desert, independent, large, border, land, president, population.

- We have the slogan of the lesson. Read and translate. “ East or West. Home is best”.

- How do you understand this proverb? Explain the meaning. ( Native land, home is the best place, the most beautiful place, the most favorite place in the world. There is no better place than native land and home).

- Do you like to travel? How do you like to travel? Do you like to travel by bus, by car, by ship, on foot?
Today we are going to have a trip to Kazakhstan.

- We have two teams. Each team has its name and a captain. Introduce yourself, please. Who is your captain?

- When you finish doing the exercise, you will receive one point. We count all the points at the end of the lesson.
- We have five stations. Each station has its own task in the envelope. (There is a map of Kazakhstan on the blackboard. The map is filled with passing stations).

- Read the name of the first station. Take the envelope and read the task .

1)The first station –‘’Astana”. “Make and write three or five sentences about Astana using the following words ( big, beautiful, city, it, it , capital, river, Ishim, Baiterek, AK Orda )”.

2) The second station is “The Kyzylkum”. What is the Kyzylkum ? Where is the Kyzylkum sinuated?(It is situated in the South of Kazakhstan. It is located near Kyzylorda.)

- What plants and animals can you find there?
- Take the envelope and read the task . “Imagine that you are in the desert. Find the names of animals and plants among these letters. Write and translate them : dsnakethturtleadtortoisejghacaciajrodent ” ( snake tortoise acacia rodent ).

3) The third station is “Pavlodar”. What do you know about Pavlodar? What is well-known Pavlodar?

Kanysh Satpayev was born in Pavlodar region. Who is Kanysh Satpayev? Kanysh Satpayev is a scientist, a geologist, a professor, an engineer. He discovered field of mineral resources. He created a map of mineral resources of Kazakhstan. He wrote the first textbook in Kazakh language on mathematics. He was awarded the medal for his work.

- Take the envelope and read the task . “You have to insert the correct word instead of gap”.

1. Astana …..(is) the capital of Kazakhstan.
2.We ….(must) respect our Motherland .
3.The state language…( is) Kazakh.
4. Kazakhstan….( borders ) Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan.
5. Big cities …(are) Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar.
6. People of different….( nationalities) live in Kazakhstan.

4) The fourth station is “Turkestan”.

- What do you know about Turkestan?

There is a mausoleum of Yassawi in Turkestan. Turkestan is one of the oldest cities in Kazakhstan. Ahmet Yassawi - a scientist , filosof, sage. He preached the religion of Islam.

- Read the task. “Read the text, answer the questions”.

Kazakhstan is very big country. It's in Asia. There are rivers, lakes, mountains, forests in Kazakhstan. People of different nationalities live in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is multicultural country. Kazakhstan has its own symbols. One of them is the flag. The color of the flag is blue. There is an eagle in the center of the flag and the golden sun. There is an ornament on the right of the flag.

  1. Where is Kazakhstan situated?
    2. What can you say about people who live in Kazakhstan?
    3. What can you say about the flag of Kazakhstan?
    4. What are there in Kazakhstan?



  1. The fifth station is “Final”. Read the task. “Complete the cluster”.

You have different words and concepts which relate to the theme "Kazakhstan". You need to take only the main notions, which characterize Kazakhstan. You have to complete the cluster. You have to compose a short story about Kazakhstan using the cluster. Present your work, cluster.

The words: country, beautiful, big, interesting, multicultural country, population, to border, lakes, rivers, desert ,city, independent, nationality, people, grow , vegetation, animals, steppe , Motherland.
