The pupils are able to revise the grammar theme through questions and answers, work in teams

Make a dialogue using new words. Write a persuasive text with a little support.

The beginning of the lesson


I.Organization moment: The teacher enters the classroom and greets the pupils. The children greet the teacher.

How are you?

-Who is on duty today?

-Who is absent today?

-What day is it today? -What season is it now?

-What date is it today? - What month is it now?










Checking up the home task: You home task was to read the text about Astana. And now I want to ask this text with help of questions in the pictures.

  1. What are the popular buildings?

  2. What is the name of its river?

  3. What is it famous for?

  4. What problems does it have?

  5. How many people live there?

  6. Is it a centre for tourism?

  7. What is the capital of Kazahstan?

The middle of the lesson

Presentation of the new material:

Brainstorming:

The teacher asks the pupils to look at the interactive board and look at the pictures. The pictures of Big Ben, London Eye, The House of Parlament, St. Paul’s Cathedral, plane,bus,taxi,ship.

The pupils express their ideas about the pictures. They have already known these buildings from the theme Sightseeing of Great Britain.

Then the teacher asks them to guess what theme they are going to discuss on the lesson. The pupils say their versions in turn. «Well, the theme is Travelling to London» says the teacher. The teacher asks the pupils some questions about the things they should know in order to go to London.

Phonetic drill:

[әе] – capital, gallery, abbey

[eі] – play, place, famous

[ju:] – museum, beautiful

[i] – big, different, symbol

I stick this phonetic drills on the blackboard. Pupils should pick this words and stick them on the sounds.

Active vocabulary:

capital-[kәеpitәl] – астана

city – [siti] - қала

famous-[feimәs] - әйгілі

tower-[] - мұнара

river-[rivә] - өзен

population-[popju’leisәn] - халық

church-[] - шіркеу

divide-[] - бөліну

king-[king] - патша

queen-[kwin] - патшайым

Then the teacher reads the words from active vocabulary and asks the pupils to repeat them after her in chorus, in groups, individually.

Reading. The first pupils see the video about London.The pupils work with the text London. The children read and translate sentences using their active vocabulary. Ex.7 p.31. Then I will ask questions about London with help of ball.

What river is London situated on?

-What’s the population of London?

-London is divided into several parts. Can you name them?

-What are the main places of interest in London?

-What is the name of the biggest clock?

- What is the capital of Great Britain?

Ok. Pupils let’s repit the Past Simple.(Өткен шақ)

The pupils read the sentences and write their sentences on the blackboard.

The end of the lesson




Formative assessment: The teacher and the pupils discuss their work on the lesson. The teacher says that all information about London is studied. So, the teacher gives for pupils red, blue and green paper and asks the pupils to make paper planes and so assess their work themselves: a red plane-I have understood everything, I am ready to go to London; a blue plane-there are some things I haven’t learnt yet, so I am ready to go to London, but a little bit later; a green plane-it was difficult for me to work on the lesson, I make mistakes and need to revise some materials.

Reflection: The method Basket of ideas .The teacher gives the groups stickers where the children should write their ideas and impressions about the lesson and then put them in the basket.

Giving the home task: to learn active vocabulary by heart, and write essay about London.

Saying good bye: The teacher thanks the pupils for the good work and says good bye.
