Тема: Unit 5 Stunts. Famous people . Present Perfect, Past Simple.

Цель урока: формирование коммуникативной компетенции учащихся; расширение кругозора учащихся.

Задачи:

образовательные:

  • повторить и активизировать в речи учащихся ЛЕ по теме «Stunts»

  • развивать умение учащихся монологической речи, а также устной неподготовленной речи;

  • закрепить навыки употребления Present Perfect, Past Simple

развивающие:

  • способствовать развитию интеллектуальной, эмоциональной, мотивационной личности учащихся

  • развивать познавательную активность

  • развивать внимание, воображение, логику

воспитательные:

  • формировать у учащихся интерес к изучению иностранного языка

  • формировать навыки и умения интеллектуального труда (поиск информационных источников, навыков самостоятельной и групповой работы)

Форма урока: комбинированный

Методы: словесный, практический, метод упражнений, проблемно-поисковый, метод аудиовизуальный.

Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации

Оборудование: ТСО, иллюстрации, карточки, интерактивная доска







The procedure of the lesson

  • The organization moment.

(Greeting. Who is absent? What date is it today? What day is it today? Today we are having and open lesson. The theme of our lesson is “Stunts”, we will discuss this text, review and consolidate grammar material: Present Prefect & Past Simple. Your tasks are listening, speaking, reading and writing and doing grammar exercises.

  • Warm up

Today’s quotation:

“The greatest risk is doing nothing.”

(reading by the teacher, checking understanding – chorus, individual)

We’ll try to follow this quotation during the lesson.

  • Work with the text “Stunts

  • What was your homework for today?

  • Our homework was to read & understand the text “Stunts”

So, let’s begin:

  • Look at all these pictures and answer the questions:


What do all these activities have in common?

(They are all dangerous. People do terrifying things. They have accidents, they break different parts of their bodies.)

What is happening in these pictures? What are these people doing?

  • Someone is driving a lorry down the side of a mountain.

  • Someone is walking through a fire.

  • Someone is moving from one airplane into another.

  • Someone is riding a bike on a top of a train.

  • Someone is falling downstairs.

  • Someone is jumping out of a huge lorry.

  • Someone is falling down the top of a skyscraper.

Where do you see all these scenes?

(at the cinema, on TV)

Can you tell me what all these people are doing?

They are doing their stunts.

What are stunts?

Stunts – are dangerous actions in the films.

How do we call people who do these stunts?

They are called stunt actors on stunt doubles.

  • Listen to the tape recorder and match the names to the picture. (after listening they answer the questions:

What did he do?

When did he do it?

  • Dick Portman drove a lorry down a mountain in his last film.

  • Nick Gillard walked through a fire in 1992.

  • Simon Crane moved from one aero plane to another in Cliffhanger.

  • Michelle Yeoh rode a motorbike on top of a train in Police Story 3.

  • Dick Portman fell down the stairs last year, while he was playing with his younger brother.

  • Mel Gibson jumped out of a lorry in Mad Max 2.

  • Wendy Leech fell from the top of a skyscraper in New York in 1978.

  • Consolidation Present Perfect and Past Simple

We use the past simple when there is a past time reference.

We use the present perfect when there is no past time reference.

Ex.4 p.59

Look through the text again and say, what people have done and when they did it?

  • Dick Portman has driven a lorry down a mountain. He drove down a mountain in his last film.

  • Nick Gillard has walked trough a fire. In 1992, he walked trough a fire foe two minutes.

  • Simon Crane has moved from one aero plane to another. He moved from one aero plane to another in Cliffhanger.

  • Michelle Yeoh has ridden a motorbike on top of a train. She rode a motorbike on top of a train in Police Story 3.

  • Dick Portman has fallen down the stairs. He fell down stairs while he was playing with his younger brother.

  • Mel Gibson has jumped out of a lorry. He jumped out of a huge lorry in Mad Max2.

  • Wendy Leech has fallen from the top of a skyscraper. She fell from the top of a skyscraper in New York in 1978.

Today we’ve spoken about stunt actors, stunt doubles. Is it a job? Yes, it is. Let’s talk about some jobs of famous people.

What is he? What does he do? (work on the board)

They live in big modern houses.

People recognize them in the street.

Fans asked for their autographs.

They make a lot of money.

They are very successful.

They wear designer clothes.

Stunts are dangerous actions in the films. People, who do these stunts, are called stunt actors. They do these stunts on their own. Among them such actors as Mel Gibson and Michelle Yeoh. They don’t have stunts doubles, they prefer to do these dangerous stunts themselves. Michelle Yeoh rode a motorbike on a top of a train in Police Story 3. Mel Gibson jumped out of a huge lorry in Mad Max 2. Wendy Leech, Simon Crane, Nick Gillard are stunt doubles who take place of actors in films. Simon Crane moved from one airplane into another and Wendy Leech fell from a top of a skyscraper in New York in 1978. I think that all these stunt men and women are very brave and strong people.





I think that a great number of people like films with a lot of actions. Dangerous actions in the films are stunts. People who do them are stunt actors. Not all actors do these stunts, stunt doubles do these stunts instead of them. Mel Gibson, Wendy Leech do these stunts on their own. Mel Gibson jumped out of a huge lorry in Mad Max 2. Wendy Leech fell from a top of a skyscraper. Simon Crane moved from one airplane into another in Cliffhanger. Nick Gillard walked through a fire in 1992. Dick Portman drove a lorry down a mountain in his last film. But the worst thing was that he fell downstairs and broke his leg at home, not in a film. Stunts men and women are brave people.






Most film stars don’t want to do the dangerous things in films, so stuntmen and stunt women do them. Nick Gillard and Wendy Leech have been stunt doubles for some of the biggest movie stars.

Not all actors and actresses have some stunt doubles. Mel Gibson and Michelle Yoeh do their own stunts. Stunt work is very dangerous and most stunt actors have been in hospital several times. Dick Portman was in hospital last year. This accident didn’t happen in a film, he fell downstairs when he was playing with his younger brother.
