Цели:
1.Создать для учащихся условия для обобщения материала о здоровом образе жизни.
2.Развивать логическое мышление, память, умение обобщать, делать выводы.
3.Воспитывать положительное отношение старших школьников к своему здоровью и здоровому образу жизни.
4.Воспитывать интерес к иностранному языку как к средству общения.
Задачи:
1.Закрепить знание лексики по теме «Здоровый образ жизни» и грамматического материала по теме «Согласование времен. Перевод прямой речи в косвенную", модальный глагол should.»
2.Способствовать развитию навыков устной речи путем создания ситуации монолога, диалога и подготовленного сообщения.

Ход урока:
I.Организационныймомент
Good morning, dear friends! Good morning, dear guests! How are you? You are welcome to our lesson «Good health is above wealth». I hope everybody is ready to work. Let's start our lesson.
II.Сообщение целей и задач урока
Teacher: Is there anything more important than health? I don't think so. You can't be good at your studies or work when you have some other problems with your health. So the topic of our lesson today is «Good health is above wealth». How do you understand it? Does health depend on you? Will you read the epigraph to our lesson «If we are healthy, we are happy»? Do you agree with it? Why?
Today is our last lesson on the third unit, so we are going to revise active words, grammar material and try to form the right notion of the healthy way of life.

Read the following guidelines, published in a glossy magazine. Decide which of them you should or shouldn't follow.
Check the calorie and fat value of the food you eat. (I should follow.)

Teacher: Well done. Children, do you come across such a modern expression «a nutrition food pyramid»? What does it mean in Russian? (пищевая пирамида) Let's listen to Sasha's report about it and see if your conclusions are right.
Nutrition food pyramid — health guides
The food pyramid has been used for decades to show people what type (and how much) of individual foods they should eat every day for optimal health. The new pyramid sports a rainbow of colored, vertical stripes that represent the five major food groups plus fats and oils. Not sure what the colors stand for? Here's a quick reference:
orange — grains
green — vegetables
red — fruits
yellow — fats and oils
blue — milk and dairy products
purple — meat, beans, fish, and nuts
The food pyramid is used to illustrate the variety of foods people need to eat to stay healthy. The thinner the band of color, the less foods in that category you need to consume, and vice versa. As you can see, eating a variety of healthy foods is best. The goal is to eat foods from each color band every day.
Please notice that, some bands of the pyramid are thick at the bottom and get thinner as they reach the top. Why? Because foods are not created equal. While apple pie contains apples, it is not as good for you as a just picked apple from the tree! The same is true for a tomato ketchup. The less nutritious variety of food is placed at the top of the pyramid, the more nutritious — at the bottom.
One of the most important aspects of the food pyramid is the way it explains how many servings of individual categories a person should eat every day.

Teacher: The other main point of healthy lifestyle is dieting. A lot of girls and women nowadays become crazy about how they look, so they begin to control their weight and count calories. Is there anybody in your class who wants to look like a model and follow a diet?

But before you decide to lose weight, make sure you really need it.
It is important to determine your ideal weight in relation to your height. This is known as the Body Mass Index (BMI).
BMI = weight (in kg) divided by height (in m2).
Please do sums and see what your BMI is.

Teacher: So, you've learnt what body mass index you have and now you should decide what to do then. Your next task is to listen to a dialogue between two friends and then retell it in indirect speech.

D: Hi, Olga! I'm fine. And you? Have you got any problems?
O: Why are you asking about it?
D: You look thoughtful and tired.
O: Yes, you are right. I have some problems.
D: What's happened?
O: Well, I think that I've got some excess weight and I feel that everybody takes notice of
it. And I want to be as thin as a supermodel.
D: It's nonsense! You are perfectly thin and very slim.
O: You are not right. I know I'm fat and I'd like to lose some weight. Can you advise me
how to do it quickly?
D: Sure. First of all you should consult a doctor and only then start dieting. Otherwise
you'll have such a dangerous disease as anorexia.
O: Anorexia? What is it?
D: Anorexia is a disease when people stop eating anything and lose their weight quickly.
Later they can't eat at all. A lot of young people die from it.
O: Really? It sounds awful! Well... You are right, I should consult a doctor first. Thank
you, Dasha.
D: You are welcome. Bye.
O: Bye.
Далее учащиеся пересказывают диалог, используя косвенную речь и согласование времен.
Possible answers:
When two girls met Dasha noticed that Olga had some problems. Olga complained that she had an excess weight and wanted to lose it quickly and to look like a supermodel. Dasha disagreed with Olga and said that she was perfectly thin and very slim. Olga didn't agree and asked her friend for a piece of advice. Dasha advised Olga to consult a doctor and warned Olga about a very dangerous disease. She explained that anorexia was a disease when people stopped eating anything and lost their weight | quickly. Later they couldn't eat at all and as a result a lot of young people died from it. At last Olga agreed that at first she had to consult a doctor.

Interpreting your BMI
BMI less than 18.5 — UNDERWEIGHT
Some people in the underweight category (BMI under 18.5) are naturally lean and healthy. But being underweight can also be bad for your health. If you are in the underweight category and have been restricting your diet, you should aim to gain weight and get back into the normal weight range for your height.
BMI 18.5-24.9 — HEALTHYWEIGHT
If you are in the normal category (BMI 18.5-24.9) for your weight and height, you should aim to maintain your weight through a combination of healthy diet and physical activity. Remember, there is no need for you to try to get into the underweight category.
BMI 25.0-29.9 — OVERWEIGHT If you are in the overweight (BMI 25-30) category you should concentrate on not gaining any more weight. Try to cut down on sugary and fatty foods and on the amount you eat to get back into the normal weight range for your height. Increasing your levels of physical activity will help.
BMI 30.0-39.9 — OBESE
If your body mass index is obese (BMI 30-40) or morbidly obese (BMI over 40) then your risk of health problems is high. It is important that you try to lose some weight and should consider asking for help from your doctor.
In conclusion it's important to note, that BMI doesn't work for everyone. If you go in for sports and have a lot of muscle (which weighs more than fat) you may have a BMI over 25 but still not be overweight.
Similarly, if you have very little muscle, you may still have too much body fat, even though you are in the correct weight range for your height. If you suspect this is true for you, then looking at your body shape and body composition can be useful.
