Objectives: by the end of the lesson students will be able to:

• use new lexics;

• make up their own dialogues about the weather;

• use new information about seasons;

• show their opinion according to new lexics.

Equipment: tape-recorder, blackboard, pictures of the seasons, cards.

Patterns of interaction: individual work, group work.

1. Organization Part.

Greeting. Talking about the weather.

• What’s the weather like today? (I think it is lovely, good…)

• Is it sunny today?

• What colour is the sky?

• Do you like such weather?

• What games would you like to play in such weather?

• What date is it today?

1. The Main Part.

1. Lexical Practice.

Days of week

• Put the cards with days of week in correct order.

• Answer my questions: What does he do on Monday? Tuesday? … Sunday?

Names of months.

Ex. 14, p.8.

Listen, read and translate the poem about seasons.

• What colour is spring (summer, autumn, winter) according to the poem?

• Name spring (summer, autumn, winter) months.

1. Making up vocabulary.

• Now let us make up our vocabulary. (on the blackboard)

• You must find on this side of the blackboard transcription of the word, on the other side – its translation. After that you must fill in the table.

• Let us divide on 2 teams “Summer” and “Winter”. You must write names of months from January as fast as you can.

1. Composition about favorite season.

• Look through the text. Change the underlined words to describe spring (summer, autumn, winter)

There are three winter months in Russia. They are December, January and February. December is the first winter month. January is the second winter month. February is the third winter month. In winter the days are short and the nights are long. It’s usually cold in winter.

1. Conclusion. Giving marks.

2. Hometask.
