Урок в 9 классе УМК Афанасьева О.В.
Тема: Проблемы молодежи в России и англоязычных странах.
Цель: развитие навыков говорения.
Задачи:
- формировать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся, расширить их знания по изучаемой теме,
- научить анализировать, систематизировать и обобщать информацию,
- воспитывать активность, инициативность и сознательность, умение работать в группе.
Ход урока:
1. Warming-up.
I would like to ask you a question.
Do you speak WEBBLISH? Webblish is a shorthand English used in messaging and the Internet.
Open your books p.169. Look at some abbreviations and try to read a message. (слайд 2)

Look at the epigraph. It is an extract from the poem of W. Shakespeare:
Crabbed age and youth
Cannot live together:
Youth is full of pleasance,
Age is full of care…
This term we speak about the life of young people. And today we are going to discuss the problems of teenagers in Russia and English-speaking countries.
3. Основная часть.
1) Listening comprehension
Let’s watch the video by an American girl. Her name is Griffin and she has her personal youtube channel. She speaks about teen’s problems.
What problems does she mention? (waking up, falling asleep, too young/too old, homework, money)
Are they serious for you?
2) Work with dictionary.
Now find out the definition of the word “teenager”. “Oxford Dictionary” p.1227. (Слайд 4)
“Teenager” is a person between 13 and 19 years old.

Teens age is the most beautiful period of life. But teenagers have many problems.
Some problems are dangerous: violence, bullying, teen’s crime. (слайд 6)

Nowadays there are some new problems: mobile phones, computer and TV addiction, teen terrorism, young gamblers.
3) Work with lexic.
Here are some problems. Will you choose the most important or the most urgent for you.
Later we’ll see if they coincide with the most common problems.
You had a task to make a social research. Now present the results of your work.
4) Presentation of the project.

We study articles from magazines and the Internet, describe and make classification of teens problems, make a social survey in our school and compare teen problems in Russia and the English-speaking countries.
Teens mention the following ones:
Widespread teen problems:
school problems,emotional problems, health problems,
family problems, teen depression, personal problems
teens aggression, obesity.
Teen dangerous problems:
alcoholism, teen suicide, smoking tobacco, taking drugs
Teen new problems:
Mobile phone, computer and TV addiction, teen terrorism, young gamblers
Pupil 2. (Слайд 9)
We made a list of questions and gave it to the students of our school.
You can see the results.
The most important problems for them are communication with classmates, generation gap, depression and free time.
Pupil 3. (Cлайд 10)
After all we compared lists of teen problems in Russia with teen’ problems in the English-speaking countries.
According to our research Russian teenagers have less problems than teenagers in the UK and The USA.
For example, we don’t have such problems as obesity, gambler problem, teen terrorism.
But in general our difficulties are the same: communication, love, depressions, computer and mobile addiction.
Pupil 4. (слайд 11)
a process of becoming a teenager is very difficult;
Teen age is a period when teens feel like adults but they are not ready to an adult life.
The most widespread problems of teens are problems connected with school and parents;
The problems of teens in Russia and English – speaking countries are practically the same;
every year teenagers’ problems are growing up and they become a serious problem for adults;
4. Заключительный этап.

Now I want to know your point of view. Take sheets of paper and try to give some advice to young people.

– to be independent – быть независимым – to be taken seriously – относиться серьезно – to do well at school – хорошо успевать в школе – to be treated with respect – быть уважаемым – to have the guaranteed rights to education, work and rest – иметь гарантированные права на образование, труд и отдых – to have a chance to express one's own individuality – иметь возможность выражать свою собственную индивидуальность – to try to change the world to the best – пытаться изменить мир к лучшему – to rebel against the society восстать против общества – to reject everything – отвергать всё – to enjoy life наслаждаться жизнью – to earn enough money – заработать достаточно денег – to make one's own mistakes and try to overcome all the life problems oneself – совершать свои собственные ошибки и пытаться преодолеть все жизненные проблемы самому – to want the adults to be tolerant and patient – хотеть, чтобы взрослые были терпимыми и терпеливыми – to try to help in solving each others' problems – пытаться помочь в решении проблем друг друга – to make oneself useful in life – приносить пользу в жизни
2) Подведение итогов.
