Learn to write a story
PLAN:
Set the scene: (who –– when - where – what)
Describe how the story started and developed (what happened?)
Describe what happened at the end of the story (refer to moods, consequences, people`s reactions, feelings, comments)
TECHNIQUES:
Beginning You can start a story
By describing weather, surroundings, people, etc. involving your senses (sight, hearing, smell touch, taste);
By using Direct Speech;
With a question;
With a dramatic sentence creating mystery or suspense;
By referring to your feelings or mood.
Ending You can finish a story by:
Using Direct Speech;
Referring to people`s feelings/moods;
Describing people`s reactions to the event developed in the main body
Creating mystery or suspense ( unexpected ending)
ANALYSIS
Adjectives | Phrases | Reasons |

GRAMMAR:
Make sure you use the appropriate tenses. The most useful tenses when writing a story are:
The Past Simple, to describe completed actions that took place one after the other in the past ( e.g. He got up, opened the door and left.)
The Past Continuous, to describe the background scenes to the story or a lengthy action that was in progress when a shorter or sudden one interrupted it. (e.g. It was raining heavily./ They were walking in the woods when they heard a noise.)
The Past Perfect (Past Perfect Continuous) , to describe a past event that was completed before another past event or situation. ( e.g. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise. The door had slammed shut.)
LINKING WORDS/PHRASES
Use linking words/ phrases to join your ideas and make your story flow.

Create the atmosphere you want and make your story interesting by using some of the following expressions/phrases:
It was too good to be true. I couldn`t believe my eyes. I was in/out of luck. (Un)luckily… I was out of breath. It made me jump. It was a real shock. | I was in a good/bad mood. All of a sudden/ Suddenly… The next thing I knew… To my surprise… (Un)fortunately… Without a doubt… Without thinking… |
End your story in such a way that the reader will be impressed.
