I. Организационный момент

1. Приветствие, ознакомление с темой и целями урока.

2. Фонетическая зарядка.

A doctor fell is a well

And broke it collarbone.

II. Основная часть

1. Развитие навыков аудирования.

When we are ill, we call the doctor and he examines us and diagnoses the illness. When we have a headache, a stomachache, a sore throat, a cold or a pain in some part of our body, we call a doctor. He takes our temperature and our pulse. He examines our heat, our lungs, our stomach or the part we have a pain and tells us what the matter with us. He says «You have a slight temperature», or «You have the flu», «You have caught or cold» or «You have heart disease».

a) Answer the questions.

1. When do people most often feel ill with flue?

2. What are the symptoms of the flu?

3. Have you ever fallen ill with flu?

4. Was your nose running?

5. Did you have a high temperature?

6. Did you have a fever?

7. Did you call a doctor?

b) Work in groups.

The students in two groups get card with parts of the phrases and try to match them.

c) Match the problem with the advice.

Fill in the necessary words.

4. Read and act out the dialogue.

D: What’s the matter?

P: I feel seedy. I must have caught a cold.

D: What troubles you? You look pale.

P: I’m now hot, now cold. I feel my temperature is rising.

D: Have you a headache or a sore throat?

P: I have a sore throat. It’s hard to swallow.

D: If you have a sore throat I advise you to make a mixture for the throat.

P: Must I take the mixture myself or take it at the chemist’s shop?

D: You can make such mixture yourself.

P: Oh, it’s very kind of you. I’ll follow your advice by all means.
