London is the capital of GB, its political, economic and cultural center. It is one of the largest cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. Its population is about 8 million people. London is situated on the both banks of the river Thames. The area of London is about 625 square kilometres. The main of them:
Westminster Abbey – the ancient large church in London in which the coronation ceremony of almost all the English kings and queens has taken place. Many famous people are buried there.
St. Paul’s Cathedral is the greatest work of England’s greatest architect, Christopher Wren. The Cathedral was begun in 1675 but was finished only in 1710, when Wren was almost 80 years old. It was made in 1858 and was named after Benjamin Hall.
Trafalgar Square is in the center of the West End of London. There is Nelson’s Column in the center of the square.
Thames – a river (346 km long) rising in South England, and flowing east to the North Sea, navigable by large ships up to London.
Madam Tussaud’s Museum – is a well-known museum in the world. V.Пысы?тау
