The theme " May day holiday" is based on the materals of the textbook and additional information.The objective of the lesson to give pupils information about the holiday which is celebrated in the USA.It has different activities and games.

At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to speak about the holiday and do homework themselves

The theme: May Day holiday

Lesson period: 45

The aims: a) educational: to learn the technique of remembering words by looking for pairs.

b) developing: to develop fluency, to develop reading for gist, specific and detailed information

c) Socio-cultural: to raise awareness of an English festival, i.e. May Day holiday

Learning outcomes: By the end of the lesson , pupils will be able to :

talk about May Day holiday
do activities belonging to the lesson

Equipments: Pupil’s book, the DVD of the book

The type and method of the lesson: non – standard, PW,GW

Organizing moment: a)greeting:

Teacher: Good morning, pupils How are you?

Pupils: Good morning, We are great

Teacher: Before sitting you should do an activity which is called “Swim or sink”. You should say at least one sentence belonging to the spring. Do you understand the task?

Pupils : Yes, we do

Then pupils will say a sentence about season and sit.

Teacher: Now, let’s talk about recent news which is happening at present.

Teacher: Who do you see on the monitor?

Pupil: He is our president Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev.

Teacher: Good. What is he doing for his nation now?

Pupils: - He is visiting the regions and meeting with people.

-He is developing business works.

-He is building new houses ,roads, hospitals.

- Yesterday he went to the USA and met with Donald Trump.

Teacher: Thank you. Now let’s begin our new lesson.

New theme: May Day holiday

Activity1 Listen and sing 8 min

Objective: to warm up by singing song

Step 1: Teacher plays the DVD. Asks the pupils to listen and sing the song.

Step2: Checking homework. The pupils can check in pairs

Pupils repeat the words after the teacher. They match the words with the pictures on the board.

Activity 2 Look and answer 5 min

Objective: to prepare for the next activity

Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and answer the questions. The pupils may give different answers to the last question. Pupils will learn about the country when they read the text.

Activity 3a Read and choose a title 5 min

Objective: to practice reading for gist

Teacher asks the pupils to read the text silently. They will be given a help with difficult words by the teacher. Then the pupils should choose the most suitable title.

Activity3bLook and match the sentences 5min

Objective : to practice reading for specific information.

Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and find sentences in act-3ato match these pictures

Activity 3cMake pairs of words. 5 min

Objective: to raise pupils awareness about words with opposite meaning and pairs of words.

There are the words written in the cards. The teacher distributes them to the pupils and asks to find opposites or pairs in meaning.

Activity 4 Put the words in order 10 min

Objective : to give pupils in writing sentences

There are the words which are not in order. Pupils should put them in order.

Activity 5 Say true or false.5 min

Objective: to practice reading for detailed information

This activity could be done by clapping. If the sentence is correct they should clap three times. If it is incorrect they should clap only one.

Marking : The teacher asks the pupils to raise their cards that they collected during the lesson. The pupil who has more cards he or she can get 5 mark.

Homework: 2min

The teacher explains the tasks of two activities at homework page.
