Walt Disney was an American artist and film producer who was famous for his animated cartoons. Walt Disney was born on the 5th of December in 1901 in state Kansas, USA. He began to work at an early age. When he was 9 years old, he worked as a postman. Walt Disney liked to draw very much and he decided to become a painter. In 1923 animator Walt Disney created a short film entitled Alice's Wonderland.

The first Mickey Mouse cartoon was drawn in 1928. It was the first sound cartoon, which brought great success to Walter Disney. In 1932 Walt Disney made the first coloured cartoon “Flowers and trees”. Walt Disney got his first award “Oscar” for this cartoon. Walt Disney developed many new techniques in producing cartoons. His most famous characters are Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Chip, Dale and many others.

In the 1950s and 1960s Walt Disney began developing the family-entertainment parks, Disneyland and Disney World. The first Disneyland was opened in southern California in 1955.
It is situated 27 miles south of Los Angeles. In 1971 Disney World was opened in Florida. Now you can visit the Disneyland all over the world. There are 6 parks in the world: California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Kong Hong, Shanhai.
