Aims. 1. Developing dialogical skills, speaking skills, reading skills, writing skills on the topic “The great capitals”.
2. Developing knowledge about the culture of the native country, about the Moscow's and London's places of interests.
3. Developing the ability of being argumentative, pupils' creative skills, and analytical way of thinking.
4. Bringing-up tolerant relations between pupils, their ability to work in group.
Facilities: a text-book, CD with slides.
I. Greetings
Teacher: Good morning, pupils. I am very glad to see you. Today we will have a demonstration lesson. In several minutes we will go on a sightseeing tour around the capitals: Moscow and London. So, the theme of our lesson is “The great Capitals”.
II. Phonetic Drill
Teacher: Pupils, look at the board, please. So, you can see the words, which is in the wrong order. Your task will be to put them into the correct order and you will find a motto of our lesson”.

(There are some places of interest in Moscow, such as: the Bolshoi Theatre, the Tretyakov Art Gallery, the Kremlin, Red Square, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and others. Also there are some places of interest in London, such as: Nelson's Column, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Tower, the British Museum, the National Gallery and others.
Teacher: Brilliant, pupils. You know a lot of information about Moscow and London.
V. Developing dialogical skills
T: Pupils, your next task is to make up dialogues concerning some facts about these cities. Among you there are correspondents and they need to take an interview. Now I give you some minutes to do it and then we will check up your homework.

- Good morning. I am Fred. I am a correspondent from Britain and I'd like to take an interview. Can you help me to learn some information about London?
- Yes, I can.
- Thank you very much. Now I will ask you. When was Moscow founded?
- Moscow was founded in 1147.
- Is there a monument to Yuri Dolgoruky in Moscow? Where is it?
- Yes, there is. It is in the centre of Moscow.
- When did Moscow become the capital?
- Moscow became the capital in the 16th century.
- What is your favorite place in Moscow?
- Red Square is my favorite place in Moscow.

London
There are many beautiful cities in the world, and London is one of them. And I would like to tell you about this city. There are a lot of beautiful sights of interest here. The heart of London is Trafalgar Square with column in the middle of it. The square was called so in memory of the victory of the British Fleet over the combined Fleets of Spain and France at the place of Trafalgar.
London is an ancient city; the old and the hero live here side by side. Its districts still preserve names, though their architecture has changed with times. The districts of London are: the City, the East End, the West End and Westminster.
The heart of London is Westminster. The Houses of Parliament, Whitehall, Dawning Street, the residence of the Prime Minister and all government offices are here.
Moscow
I live in Russia. Russia is my native country. Moscow, the capital of Russia, is one of the large it cities in the world. Moscow stands on the banks of the Moscow River. About eight million people live in the city.
Moscow is famous for its historical and architectural monuments that were built by outstanding architects. The Red Square is the central and the most beautiful square in Moscow. It is the place of parades, meetings and demonstrations. It is a master piece of Russian architecture. The heart of Moscow is the Kremlin. There is a wonderful architectural ensemble with three cathedrals, the Bell tower is famous.
