Big Ben & Houses of Parliament
The name "Big Ben" is generally known to describe the clock tower. "Big Ben" is actually the bell within the tower. The site of the Houses of Parliament is the Palace of Westminster, a royal palace and former residence of kings. The Clock Tower is 96.3m (316 ft) tall and the Bell weighs 13.8 tones.
Tower Bridge or Tower of London
Tower Bridge has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894. At the Tower Bridge Exhibition you can enjoy views from the high-level Walkways and learn about the history of the Bridge and how it was built. Tower of London, was founded by King William in the 11th Century, and has served as a royal palace and fortress, prison and place of execution, an arsenal, royal mint and jewel house.
Trafalgar Square & Nelsons Column
Trafalgar Square was built to commemorate Admiral Nelson on his victory in the Battle of Trafalgar. The square is now a popular site for political demonstrations, and is the site of Nelson's Column, which has four giant lions at its base. The square also has two water fountains.
Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837. Since the beginning of the 18-th century it was a town house of the Dukes of Buckingham. Today it is The Queen's official residence.
Westminster Abbey
The Church of St Peter and Westminster Palace is Westminster Abbey. The Westminster Palace is a mainly Gothic church. It is the traditional place of coronation for English monarchs. It is still used today for regular worship and for the celebration of great events in the country.
St Paul's Cathedral
The Cathedral was designed by the architect Sir Christopher Wren and built between 1675 and 1710. The funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill have taken place here and the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer.
Piccadilly Circus & Eros
Piccadilly Circus is a famous traffic public place of London's West End, which is a busy meeting point. It is now well known for its big video display and neon signs on the corner of building. At the south-western side there is a nude statue with wings, popularly known as Eros.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 by the company in time when William Shakespeare lived. And it was destroyed by fire in 1613. A modern reconstruction of the original Globe, named 'Shakespeare's Globe Theatre', opened in 1997. Plays are performed at the Theatre from May till October.
The London Eye
You can see up to 25 miles in each direction with views over some of the world's most famous sights, including Trafalgar Square, Big Ben & Houses of Parliament, St.Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge of London and many others. The ride lasts about 25 minutes.
