The procedure of the lesson:

  1. Warm-up:

1) Objectives:
1. to practice skills in speaking
2. to practice the vocabulary

2) Teaching aids and materials:

3) Equipment: interactive board.

4) Steps:                                                                                                             5) Regimes:
   1. The T presents the poem on the interactive board.                                          T -  Cl
        The Ss listen to the poem.
    2. The Ss show their understanding of the poem,
        define the stressed words in a poem and put the intonation.                           T -  Cl
    3. The T reads herself and  Ss imitate in unison.                                                 T -  Cl
    4. The T asks first bright, then average, last slow Ss.                                         T -  S1, S2, S3 …
6) Assessment (Evaluation): verbal.

II. Checking of Homework.
  1) Objectives:
    1. to practice writing skills.
  2) Teaching aids and materials:  sentences in copy - books.                                     

  3) Equipment: Ss’ copy – books.
  4) Steps:                                                                                                           5) Regimes:
1.  The T asks the Ss to read their sentences.                                                          T -  Cl
2. The Ss read their sentences.                                                                                S1, S2, S3 …
3. The T corrects the Ss’ mistakes.                                                                         T -  S1, S2, S3 …
6) Assessment (Evaluation): verbal, marks.

 

Ш. Oral practice

         1) Objectives:
          
1. to practice the vocabulary.
           2. to develop skills in reading.
         2) Teaching aids and materials:  pp. 26-27, Ex-s 1,2,3.
         3) Equipment: Students’ book, Teacher’s book, dictionaries,
                                  manuals, selected readings, visual materials

        4) Steps:                                                                                                             5) Regimes:  
         
1. The T shows the picturess on the interactive board.
              There are portraits of famous writers and travelers:
              Semenov – Tyan – Shansky, Magellan, Shakespeare and Dickens
              and their names.
              The Ss are to match the portraits with the names.                                        T -  Cl       
          2. The T pays much attention on Semenov’s portrait                                       T -  Cl   
              and asks Ss what do they know about him.                                                  S1, S2, S3 …
          3. Reading. The T presents the new vocabulary on p.26 before reading.        T -  Cl   
          4. The Ss read the text. Ex.1, pp – 26-27.                                                         S1, S2, S3 …
          5.  The T asks questions about the text.                                                            T -  S1, S2, S3.                                                                                                      
          6. The T gives the Ss some time to remember the content of the text.
              Then the Ss do ex.2, p.27.
              They are to speak about the text by memory.
          7. The T makes a revision on theme Passive Voice.                                          T -  Cl
8. The Ss do ex.3, p.27. They are to use the correct form of Passive Voice.               S1, S2, S3.                                                                                                      
          
  6) Assessment (Evaluation): verbal, marks.

IV. Summing up the results of the lesson.
Giving the home assignment: to make a project about great travelers in groups.

Drawing conclusions.

Educational aims: to develop mental abilities (to be able to analyze, compare, contrast, memory, imagination, will power).
Practical aims:
(Objectives)

  1. to get acquainted with new vocabulary

  2. to practice the vocabulary

  3. to develop skills in reading and speaking

  4. to practice the grammar item


Cultural aims: 1. to extend pupil’s knowledge of the world in which they live

2. to get acquainted with the life, customs and traditions of the target language speakers.


Language and linguistic materials: Reported Speech, new vocabulary.


The type of the lesson:
mixed


The kind of the lesson: learner-centered lesson


Methods: explaining, question-answer, brainstorming, comparing, giving information, acting out and vocabulary


Equipment:

a) teaching aids: blackboard, the computer, the interactive board, tape recorder

b) teaching materials:

the students’ book “Almaty Kitap”, the teacher’s book, dictionaries, manuals, selected readings, visual materials (objects, realia, flashcards, sentence cards, wall-charts, posters, pictures, photographs, albums, maps, plans, slides, filmstrips)cards with exercises, audio-visual materials (sound film loops, films, movies), audio materials (typescripts, CD with typescripts, records, cassettes)
