The theme of the lesson: Fauna of Kazakhstan

Aims: - to speak about animals;

  • to teach pupils to work in the group; to help each other

  • to improve pupils skills in speaking, reading, understanding, translating, and writing about animals.

  • to enlarge pupils vocabulary

Type of the lesson: explanation of new theme

Methods: individual work, group work, question-answer

-Good morning children!

-Sit down, please

-How are you?

-Who is on duty today?

-Who is absent today?

-What date is it today?

-What day of the week is it today?

-What is the weather like today?

II. Checking up the home task

-What was your home task for today?

-Who wants to answer?

Our last theme was about plants.

What plants do you know?

Snowdrops, daffodils, daisies, tulips, roses.

Do you like flowers?

What is your favourite flower?

Describe the animals

Where this animal lives?

What is inhabited?

Is it dangerous animal?

What colour is it?

The fauna of Kazakhstan are incredibly rich. There are more than 6000 plant species, 172 .


Saiga, fox, wolf, bear, leopard, mountain-goat, cow, camel, lynx, roe, gopher, mink, hedgehog.


Wild animals live in deserts, forest, steppes, mountains, in the water.

Domestic animals live on the farms.

A wolf and a sheep

It is brown. It has got 4 legs. It sleeps in winter. What is it? (a bear)

It lives on the farm. It runs well. It eats grass. It gives milk. What is it?

It is grey and white. It likes carrots and cabbage. It can run and jump. What is it? (a rabbit)

I’m big, I’m grey. My nose is long. My tail is short. I’m…….

(an elephant)

I’m small. My nose is short. My tail is long. I’m…… (a mouse)

I’m red and I have a fine tail. I live in the forest. I like meat. (a fox)

It looks like a big dog, it is grey and it has got big teeth. (a wolf)

It looks like a big cat, it lives in Africa, it can run very fast and it has a very long tail. (a tiger)

It’s green and big, it lives in the water and likes meat (a crocodile)

I’m brown. I can walk, run, climb, jump. I can’t fly. I like bananas.
