Many valentines have romantic poems; others are humorous. For example,

Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day is on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a harvest festival.
Thanksgiving started over 400 years ago with Pilgrims. The Pilgrim fathers wanted to have no problems with the church. They also wanted a new and a better life.
They sailed to a new continent America on the ship "Mayflower" in 1620. There, they had a terrible winter.
Indian: Hello! Welcome to America. My name is The Great Snake.
Eng.Man: Hello, The Great Snake! My name is John. And this is Mary. We are from England.
Mary: The new world promised us freedom. But our families died and we didn’t stop it.
Indian: I can help you, Yankee. I’m a farmer and grow corn and beans. I’m good at hunting.
Mary: Thank you very much!
John: Let’s make friends forever.
The harvest of the next year was very good. And the remaining colonists decided to make a party. They also invited Indians who had helped the Pilgrims survive their first year. The Indians taught the Pilgrims to plant corn, to grow potatoes, beans, to hunt. Wild turkey and corn were part of their feast.
Now Thanksgiving is a national holiday. The families come together for a special dinner. People are with their families and friends to give thanks for the good things in their lives.
Mother makes the dinner. Grandma brings the pies. Father carves the turkey. And I will tell you why.
