Task 1

Read the text and choose and circle the correct ending A, B, C, or D.

The colour of health.

Some scientists claim that colour has a dramatic effect on our health.

This theory is supported by research in the USA. Twenty –five volunteers were exposed to blue light and then to red light for the same amount of time. The blue light lowered the blood pressure of the volunteers, leaving them calm.

But when the light became red, they grew more active and even aggressive, as their blood pressures soared.

A similar study in Canada showed that a group of children placed in a blue room ,all became much calmer.

Colour therapist, Theo Gimbel believes the correct use of colour can improve our lives.

However, people are doubtful about colour therapy but there is growing evidence that it does work. Next time you visit the doctor, instead of giving you medicine, he may ask you to change the colour of your room !

1. Two days later David paid a private detective to find out where his idol lived. The next day he turned up on her doorstep with a gun. Luckily, her bodyguard opened the door and managed to take David’s gun away from him. David was taken away by the police.

No one really knows where the game of golf was first played.

The Romans played a game with wooden sticks and a leather ball filled with feathers, but the details are not known.

In the fifteenth century golf first appeared in the written history of Scotland.

golf instead of training for the army and the game was banned. However, by 1503 even the king had started playing golf again.
