I would like to introduce Russia to you.

The Russian Federation.

Russian Federation

In spite of the problems Russia is facing at present, there are a lot of opportunities for this country to become one of the leading countries in the world.

The Area Of Russia

The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world. It occupies about one-seventh of the earth's surface. It covers the eastern part of Europe and the northern part of Asia. Its total area is about 17 million square kilometres..

The country is washed by 12 seas of 3 oceans: the Pacific, the Arctic and the Atlantic. In the south Russia borders on China, Mongolia, Korea,

Kazakhstan, Georgia and Azerbaijan. In the west it borders on Norway, Finland, the Baltic States, Byelorussia and Ukraine.

Population of Russia

Russia's population is about 140 million people. Most of them live in the European part of the country, where there are some major cities. Small towns and border areas are less populated, but civilization can be founded throughout the country.

The state language of Russia.

Russia – is a multinational country. There are 150 languages. Russian is spoken by 97,72% of the population.

Russian is a state language in the territory of the Russian Federation. It means that it is spoken not only in life, at work, but it is also the official language of the state,the language of science and culture.

Large cities of Russia

The biggest city of Russia is its capital Moscow. The second biggest city is Saint-Petersburg – the former capital of the country.
