Morning, boys and girls!
I’m very glad to see you ! Sit down, please and let’s get down to work.
We’ll speak today about different holidays and at the end of the lesson you are to answer my question: What is your favourite holiday and why?
Firstly, we will make 4 teams( I divide the class into 4 teams with the help of “ice-cream”-the first child is vanilla ice-cream, the second one is –chocolate ice-cream, the third one is banana ice-cream, the fourth one - strawberry ice-cream, the fifth is vanilla ice-cream again and so on …).By the way, usually the name of the team is connected with the topic of the lesson.
The next step is they choose the names of their teams and the leaders. By the way, the name of the team is usually connected with the topic of the lesson. So, teams are ready to work.

The first task is familiar to you. We will do this task together. First, orally, then you will match in writing. At the beginning, try to translate the left part from Russian into English.
Teacher -Any volunteers?
T.-OK, Masha is ready.
Masha -I don’t know how to translate фейерверк
T.-If you don’t know the exact word, try to describe it.
M.- This is something beautiful I can see in the sky at some holidays.
T.-Well done!( This is the example of the dialogue between the teacher and the pupil. The teacher helps pupils to render the meaning of new words with the help of familiar words)
1 смотреть фейерверк to make wreaths
2 есть традиционную еду to sing carols
3 надевать костюмы to terrify everyone
4 смотреть парады to play musical chairs
5 Петь колядки to pin the tail on the donkey
6 пугать всех to watch a firework display
7 играть в игру »поймай яблоко без рук» to watch parades
8 предлагать цветы и сладости to throw streamers
9 играть в игру» приколи хвост ослику» to bake hot cross buns
10 угощайся to perform tricks
11 глазированные яблоки to offer flowers & sweets
12 играть в музыкальные стулья to eat traditional food
13 обмениваться подарками to play apple bobbing
14 показывать фокусы to exchange gifts
15 бросать серпантин to wear costumes
16 печь горячие булочки с крестом toffee apples
17 делать венки to help yourself to
When we finish discussing the translation, pupils match the words in teams. Then we check together.
T.-Vanilla ice-cream, how many words have you found?
Leader-10 words.
T.- Good job. But now let’s check. (and so on…)
Teams get points and we choose the winner.
Закрепление лексического материала.
1 With the help of Power Point Presentation, we match the words with the pictures.(Team work)
2 Finally, at random, the team picks up the number of the picture and plays the game” Mime this action”.
One member of the team mimes the action he\she picks up and the opponent guesses. The team has 30 seconds to discuss the action.
All in all, we’ve got the final winner.
