There are prizes for winners and runners-up. The contest usually starts at about 7 p.m.Boat Race.Another example is the Boat Race which takes place on the river Thames often on Easter Sunday.Grand National horse race.British people think that the Grand National horse race is the most exciting horse race in the world. Many kinds of sport originated from England. The English have a proverb: All work and no plays makes Jack a dull boy. When the English say: «that is not cricket» it means «that is not fair», «to play the game» means «to be fair».
Marble Championship
There are a lot of sport traditions and some of them are old.
The games of marbles dates back to Roman times. Teams of 6 compete on a circular, sanded rink.
Forty-nine marbles are placed in the centre of the rink and the players try to knock out as many as possible their marble.

Egg-and-spoon race
There is the egg-and-spoon race, in which each runner must carry an egg in a spoon without letting it drop.
If the egg does fall, it must be picked up with the spoon, not the finger.
