Amazing English

Objectives:

Educational: - to train the active vocabulary in speech         

Developing: -to develop speaking and listening skills

                                 - to develop interpersonal relationship of pupils

            Bringing-up: -to to support interest to the English lesson

I.                  Organizational moment

Good afternoon children and our dear guests. I am so glad to see you here. Today we are having a competition. It is called “Amazing English”. Today we have two teams. The first team is “Stars” and the second team is “Friends”. Today you should try to show your best results in English. I wish you good luck. So it’s high time to start our game. Are you ready? Now let’s begin to play.

But firstly let me introduce our judges. They are…

Конкурс1. “Mixed words”. 

    Our first game is “Mixed words”. Your task will be the following: I give you cards with words, but the letters are mixed up. Put them in right order.

Конкурс 4. “Captains” contest

This task is for captains. They should introduce themselves answering these questions.

-   What’s your name?

-   What’s your surname?

-   Where are you from?

-   How old are you?

-   Which class are you in?

-   What’s your address?

-   What’s your telephone number?

The maximal point of this contest is 5.

Конкурс 5. "Who is the best interpreter?"

I need one person from each team. Who wants to be my interpreter? Listen to my Eng­lish texts and interpret them into the Kazakh language.

This is a girl. Her name is Carol. She is from London. She is in class 5 A. Her mother’s name is Ann. Ann is 30. She is from London.

Text B

This is a boy. His name is Colin. He is 10. Colin is from England. His friend’s name is Andy. Andy is in class 6 A. He is 11.

The maximal point of this contest is 3.

Конкурс 6. “Sentences”

Our next game is “Sentences”. Your task will be the following: I give you cards with sentences, but the words are mixed up. Put them in right order.  

  1. It is a book.
  2. My name is Carol.
  3. This is her sister
  4. He is my friend.
  5. My mother is thirteen.

For each right answer by 1 point.

 Конкурс 7. "Who counts quicker?"

You should count from 10 to 1 in              order.

For example: the first pupil say 10, the second say 10, 9, the third say 10, 9, 8 and so on. If one team does this task better then another this group will win it.

The maximal point of this contest is 2.

 Конкурс 8. Missed letters.

Our next game is “Missed letters”. You should complete missed letters in the words on the whiteboard.
