What makes my holidays ideal

Внеклассное мероприятие «Что делает мои каникулы идеальными»

Цели мероприятия: практическая: развитие навыков аудирования, чтения, говорения, письма; воспитательная: развивать интерес учащихся к английскому языку, уважение к культуре других народов и стран, интерес и любовь к путешествию.

Предметные: учиться правильно использовать лексические единицы в заданной речевой ситуации, правильно использовать грамматические правила английского языка, расширять словарный запас по темам: транспортные средства, погода, осмотр достопримечательностей, в кафе, на пикнике;

Личностные: учиться быстро реагировать на поставленные задачи, развивать память, смекалку, быструю реакцию, воображение, формировать умение работать в команде;


Оборудование: фишки, плакаты для каждой станции, маркеры или фломастеры.


Форма мероприятия: бег по станциям


Ход мероприятия:

The teacher: All of us always look forward to holidays. Why? We have free time. We don’t have to get up early, we forget about our alarm clock and we are all lazybones a little. But if you are an energetic, active and easygoing person of course you will remember about your suitcase because you are fond of travelling. You know it is one of the things that makes your holidays wonderful.

People like travel alone or with friends, with their family or with a dog. What reasons are for travelling? Some people want to meet new people and make new friends, others want to go sightseeing and learn traditions and customs. So travelling gives us great pleasure, experience and a golden opportunity to see the beauty of the world, teachers us to understand people, helps to study geography, history and languages. And today we have a little travelling around the stations. There will be seven stations in seven classrooms. Our teachers will meet your groups in the classrooms where you will find interesting tasks for you. So you are not just groups, you are real commands that compete with each other. The teachers will give your captains counters for each right answer. The winner will have the most of the counters.


Обучающиеся заранее готовятся к открытому мероприятию: формируются в команды, выбирают капитанов, учитель делает фишки для подсчета баллов и на уроках повторяет лексику по темам: путешествие, погода, транспортные средства, осмотр достопримечательностей, в кафе, на пикнике.


Station 1


Means of transport


When people are on holiday or, as Americans say, on vacations, they like a change. They travel to see other countries and continents, cities and towns. It is always interesting to discover new things. If you are on holiday, you should arrange everything before you go on trip.

There are travel agencies where you can get help with your means of transport and planning your vacation. You can travel by train, by plane, by ship or by car.


Now you have a task: choose the correct word to complete the questions.


1. How do you travel/voyage to college each day?

2. Do you ever go to college by/on foot?

3. Is it easy to catch/board a bus where you live?

4. Have you ever lost/missed a bus, train or plane?

5. Have you ever travelled anywhere by/with ferry?

6. Which do you think is safer: travelling on/by plane or train?

7. What`s your favourite way/means of transport?

Students do the task. The teacher counts the right answers of the students and gives the captain of the group the same number of the counters. The teacher can ask some questions to the group. For example, have you ever travelled by plane? What do you think is the best means of transport? What is the fastest means of public transport around our town? There is usually an underground in cities. It gives passengers a chance to get to work or to school or college very quickly.



Station 2

The weather

Welcome to Station 2! It is devoted to the weather. Sometimes it is very changeable and all the tourists, I believe, would like to see wonderful sights and places through the window of their car, bus or train or just go for a walk along streets of a town when it`s warm and sunny. But when it rains cats and dogs you want to be at home reading an interesting book or seeing a detective on TV. Sometimes our travelling can even be tiring, dangerous and troublesome because of the weather. For example, the sea can be stormy, a strong wind and cold can make us stay at a hotel or at home and tourists can get into trouble because of thunderstorm and lightning in the mountains. But as they say: “If there were no clouds, we wouldn`t enjoy the sun”. Travelling is a good thing and I think you should try to see some beautiful places if only near your native town.

And now 3 riddles for you:

The students guess the riddles. The teacher gives the captain of the group one, two or three counters for right answers. The teacher can ask the students some questions: What is the weather like today? Do you like the weather like this? The teacher can give some comments about the weather. For example, The sky is getting darker and darker. It`s going to rain./ It looks like rain./Look at that black cloud. It`s going to rain./The weather is fine today. It`s sunny and not windy now.


Station 3

Sightseeing

Now you are at the station of sightseeing. Some people would like to see ancient buildings or famous people, others prefer to see wonderful views of mountains, lakes, forests, animals and birds. Don`t forget a camera to take photos! You will be pleased enough to watch the photos of the happy moments of your life.

But I think it`s important to know geography for our travelling. Let`s do the following test:


1. Which is the highest waterfall in the world?

b) Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

c) Niagara Falls (USA/Canada)


2. Which is the biggest lake in the world?

a) Lake Victoria

4. Where is the Eiffel Tower?

Station 4

At a café

Hello, students! It`s dinner time. It`s high time we had dinner! Of course, we try to visit a good restaurant or café famous for its cuisine when we travel. But hang on a minute! Do you frequent phrases connected with the matter? Let`s see!

Вариант задания. Учитель показывает картинки (4-5 картинок), но комментарии к картинкам закрыты. Они выписаны на отдельных карточках. Учащимся следует соотнести комментарии на карточках с картинками. Картинки изображают диалоги официанта и посетителей кафе или ресторана.


Station 5

Let`s go to picnic!

Hallo, students! I would like to start our meeting with a riddle. A large bag that you carry on your bag. What`s this? You are right. It`s a backpack. Sometimes we need to have a holiday in nature and some of us remember about a picnic. Our backpacks can be very heavy but we have all the necessary things in them.

Here you can see a table. There are 3 columns in it. The first column is for singular countable nouns, the second column is for plural countable nouns and the third one is for uncountable nouns. For example, an apple is a singular countable noun, some biscuits is a plural countable noun and some bread is uncountable noun. Put these nouns into the correct column. Students write their answers in the table.
