ОБОРУДОВАНИЕ: географическая карта Великобритании, тематические ил-люстрации по теме “Великобритания”, карточки с вопросами, карточки с анаграммами слов-географических названий Великобритании, карточки с за-

писью английских пословиц, скороговорки.

I. Вступительное слово преподавателя.

T: Dear pupils, we are glad to meet you at our lesson. Welcome everybody!

It is always interesting to go abroad, to see interesting places, to learn about people,

their culture, customs and traditions. As the English proverb says: “It is better to see something once than to hear about it many times”. We hope you will have a possibi-

lity to visit Great Britain, to see the country with your own eyes, to see the people who live there, to learn about their customs, traditions, mode of life. But today we will speak about Great Britain. Welcome to our quiz-show!

First of all let me introduce our teams and our jury. As you know, Great Britain

consists of 4 parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. So, we have 4

letters – E, S, W and I and we’ll have 4 teams – the team of England, the team of Scot-

land, the team of Wales and the team of Ireland. Please, choose any letter you like.

We have 4 teams and now choose the captains of your teams. Our captains are ….. The teams present their names, mottoes and emblems.

The members of our jury are: …..


II. Main part.

T: The main topics of our quiz are: geography, the British climate, state and symbols

and the capital of the country - London. Choose any topic you like. (The captains choose the topics).

T: Take cards and do some anagrams. Each number of this word is the number of a

letter. So you must write down the words ( the geographical names of Great Britain )

and explain what do they mean.

and your task is to correct the mistakes.

you. Take the envelopes with the tasks.

Task 2. Pronounce the tongue-twisters as quickly as possible.

very well. And while our jury is working hard, I’d like to address our fans.

III. Summing-up.

T: Listen to our jury (the jury is summing up the results). But whatever the results

are, the most important is that we have gathered here and we will hope that this mee-

ting won’t be the last. So, the final score is …… Let’s congratulate the winners. Please, come to the jury and get your prize! Thank you for the game. Thanks to our jury for their work. Good luck in your further English learning! Our lesson is over.
