Кроме того, любое соревнование на уроке помогает мотивировать учеников и делает урок интереснее, а участников соревнования — активнее. Также важно, что ученики пытаются ответить даже на те вопросы, точного ответа на которые они не знают. Правильная догадка обеспечит более прочное запоминание материала. Мероприятие рассчитано для учащихся 7 классов общеобразовательных школ.

1 Цель
Создание условий для развития кросс-культурной компетенции, для формирования у учащихся интереса к культуре и традициям стран изучаемого языка.
2 Задачи
Познавательный аспект:
формировать умение говорить на английском языке, читать стихи, петь песни;
Развивающий аспект:
развивать самостоятельность; расширять и углублять культурологические знания; повышать общую культуру общения;
Воспитывающий аспект:
воспитывать у учащихся ответственность за порученное дело; умение и желание работать в коллективе; уважение к культуре другого народа.

. Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our party, dedicated to the most important day in the American year. People call this holiday Thanksgiving Day.
. But first of all I'd like to remind you some facts from the history of this holiday.
You know, dear friends that during celebration children, the Indians and the Pilgrims, played games together. Why not play a little? Let’s divide into three groups and arrange a sort of contest. Let one team be “The Indians” and the other one – “The Pilgrims» and the third - “nowadays Americans”

2. Do you know the symbols of this holiday?
FOOTBALL – is the most popular game on this day. For many schools the Thanksgiving Day game is the most important one of the year. Usually there are several football matches to watch on TV.
TURKEY – Though the wild turkey may not be the most handsome bird of the woods, it’s one of the most interesting and impressive, sharing in the historical and traditional limelight of the harvest season. It was domesticated by the Indians of Mexico.
PUMPKIN – Pumpkin came through the normal trade roots from Central and South America. Pumpkins were used by the North American Indians centuries before Columbus reached the West Indies. They were boiled, baked in ashes, used in bread, and dried. Today pumpkin pie is a part of most traditional Thanksgiving dinners.
THE HORN OF PLENTY (THE CORNUCOPIA) – is a familiar Thanksgiving symbol of earth’s bounty, and reminds us how much of our food comes from the earth.
Wreath Thanksgiving is a time to decorate homes, stores, schools, with various symbols. One of them is a wreath of dried flowers and vegetables. To my mind it's a very nice decoration . Thanksgiving Card Thanksgiving is a day when people send loving messages and warm wishes to their relatives, colleagues and the nearest and dearest.
Apple Pie It goes without saying that apple, pumpkin and cranberry pies are the most popular desserts in the feast. You can see an apple pie. I baked it with pleasure and love. Will you try it?
