  1. The Introduction

The topic of the research work is “ The History of the Foundation of the Magnet Company”.

The problem of the work is that I’d like to know more about the Magnet Company on the topic “Shopping!”

The aim of the work is to find the information about the history of the Magnet Shops.

The tasks of the research work are

to find the main on the topic “Shopping”;

to form skills and habits of working on the presentation and the information about the history of the shops “Magnet”;

The type of the work is an informational and creative with the elements of investigation.

The sphere of the investigation is English.

The student of the 7th form studying English and the teacher of English are taking part in the research work.

So the theme of my research work is “The History of the Foundation of the Magnet Company”.


In this work I decided to know more about the “Magnet’s shops”. I wanted to know more about the “Magnet’s products”, because there is the shop in Pozhva too. I need it to describe the products for studying the topic “Shopping” in the 6th form.

I am going to describe the goods in our “Magnet Shop” in English.

I want you to listen to the information about it.

I think that it will be interesting to you to know about it in English.

  1. The Russian Company Retailer "Magnet".


"Magnet" is the Russian company retailer and the network of grocery stores of the same name (the most part from them have the "shop at the house)" format. As of the middle of 2012 — the largest in the country on number of grocery stores retail chain stores. Enters the five of the largest retailers of the world on capitalization. Parent organization of network — Closed joint stock company (JSC) Tander. The headquarters — in the city of Krasnodar. One of the few retail chain stores which aren't equipped with payment terminals.


Russian company retailer "Magnit"

The firm counts the history since 1994 when its current owner Sergey Galitsky has founded the organization for trade in household chemicals. The very first shop "Magnit" has been open in 1998 in Krasnodar to the address Tyulyaev St., 8. The retail network quickly developed, having reached by the end of 2005 of 1500 shops. Since 2006 development of network of hypermarkets is begun.


At the end of December, 2008 the Magnit network was included into the list of the companies which will get the state support during crisis.


In 2010 the firm has begun to develop retail network like drogera of "Magnit-Kosmetik", selling cosmetics (the first such shop has appeared in Novorossiysk).

In April, 2006 the Magnit organization has carried out primary public offer of actions at the Russian exchanges RTS and MICEX during which 18,94% of shares of parent organization for $368,4 million have been placed (total capitalization has made $1,944 billion). Market capitalization for December 25, 2007 has made $3,54 billion.

On October 28, 2009 the bid book and determined price of the secondary public offer of actions and global depository receipts have been closed. Within the public offer investors have acquired securities at the price exceeding market, the final price of placement has made $13 for the global depository receipt (five receipts are equivalent to one action — thus, the action price — $65). The trading in receipts of firm on London to the stock market were closed on October 28, 2009 on a mark of $12,5. On MICEX the stock price of the organization has made $55,4.


After carrying out SPO in 2009, J.P.Morgan Chase bank has increased the share in firms to 16,72%.

As of September, 2012 the Magnit network contained more than 5400 shops in the "shop at the house" format, 105 hypermarkets, 10 shops "Magnet Family" and more than 440 shops of cosmetics located in more than 1450 settlements of the Russian Federation. Floor spaces for the end of 2011 made 1,97 million мІ.


The organization has a set of distribution centers, in particular, Stavropol Krai, Ivanovo, Izhe located in the village of Vasilyevka of the Stavropol district of the Samara region, Veliky Novgorod, Erzovk of Gorodishchensky district of the Volgograd region, Lermontov Stavropol Krai, Ivanovo, Izhevsk Republic of Udmurtia, Engels of the Saratov region, Esaulk of Sosnovsky District of Chelyabinsk region, Sterlitamak Republic of Bashkortostan, Omsk. At the disposal of "Magnet" there are more than 4000 trucks of the MAN and Renault brand — a half from all MAN vehicle fleet in the Russian Federation. The motor transportation enterprises are available at each distribution center (DC) of firm. In all ATP there is officially certified service.

Development strategy

Achievement of the maximum cover zone of Magnit retail network:

The strategic direction – opening of shops with the population less than 500 thousand people – where lives in the cities 73% of urban population of the Russian Federation;

Target audience of "shop at the house" - buyers with the average level of the income that gives the chance of Magnit network to get into towns and settlements.

Further development of network is focused on strengthening of positions of Magnit network in the Ural and Central regions:

Strategy of reduction of prices for regional expansion;

Existence of the sufficient means providing opening not less than 250 shops a year.

Maintenance of the industry of leadership in control over expenses:

Further improvement of efficiency of logistic system.Magnit shops became a part of the life of millions of our fellow citizens. More than 5000 shops of the format "at the house" on all European part of the Russian Federation offer all range of goods of everyday demand for reasonable prices. Use of the hi-tech equipment and modern technologies in all spheres of business helps to reach balance of the price and quality of goods of Magnit shops. The firm opens Magnit shops not only in the cities, but also in small settlements, providing to inhabitants consumer goods and new jobs. In firms the franchize isn't used that allows to support the uniform quality standard of goods and service in all shops of a chain. The firm is stable and constantly develops. The revenue of retail network "Magnit" for 2011 made about 11,4 billion. American dollars.

In 2012 the firm plans to open about 800 shops in different regions of the Russian Federation.

In 2006, as a result of the analysis of needs of buyers, the decision on opening of shops of the new format "family hypermarket" was made. Magnit hypermarkets offer buyers the wide range of consumer and industrial goods for all family. Magnit hypermarkets — an average format, they save not only money, but also time of buyers, allowing to buy all necessary on average in 40 minutes. Meeting needs of buyers, the organization constantly improves the range of goods and services. To provide quality of the semi-finished products demanded in the market and ready dishes, Magnit hypermarkets open own production of a full cycle — the meat shop, cookery, a bakery and the confectionery shop.

The first Magnit hypermarket was open in Krasnodar in October, 2007, in the 2008th they were already 14!

Today in the organization 101 hypermarkets, including in small settlements at which there are no large retail chain stores.

In 2012 the firm plans to open more than 50 hypermarkets in different regions of the Russian Federation, and it means that in these cities hundreds of jobs for experts of different professions will appear.

Distribution centers — the most large-scale enterprises of firm. Round the clock 17 distribution centers of the organization receive a product from large suppliers of the Russian Federation and from the different countries of the world and prepare it for sending to shops and hypermarkets. The retail chain stores "Magnet" since 2010 develop own import of goods of the corresponding quality for maintenance of high appeal of shops of firm and at the most reasonable prices.

Modern technologies and the equipment, the automated systems of the account and own IT developments allow distribution centers of the organization to provide smoothly with goods more than 5000 shops and 101 hypermarkets of retail network "Magnit" on all European part of the Russian Federation.

The motor transportation enterprise JSC Magnit — one of the largest in Europe, in its structure of 17 motor transportation enterprises in different regions of the Russian Federation. More 9200th employee transport division daily provide delivery of goods in shops and Magnit hypermarkets.

Vehicle fleet of firm are more than 3000 new heavy-load cars of the MAN brand (retail chain stores "Magnet" — the most big customer of the MAN company in the world). Our motor transportation enterprises are a full service cycle of cars: modern repair shops, dressings, sinks, hi-tech logistic centers, catering establishments.

The motor transportation enterprise — big transport enterprise of the country, makes long-distance transportation of goods by all European part of the Russian Federation, the Urals, the Volga region, and also international transport of goods from such countries of Europe as Poland, Serbia, Belgium, Italy, Spain.

In 2010 the management of retail network "Magnit" made the decision on development of a nonfood segment of goods and the new format of shops — "Magnit-Kosmetik" was developed. The first shop of a new format was open at the end of 2010. The analysis of work of shop showed that new activity of the organization is demanded in the market. Openly already about 300 Magnit-Kosmetik shops. In 2012 it is planned to open more than 500 shops of a new format.

The parent organization of retail network "Magnit" is the command center of all directions of business of retail network "Magnit" located in Krasnodar. Here strategy of work for several years ahead is developed, ambitious plans in scales of the Russian Federation are put and reached.

Today in head office more than 4000 employees — experts in the field of purchases, transport, logistics, economy and other specialties allowing to operate effectively collective in which 150 000 employees work work. The net retail proceeds for 2011 made about 11,4 billion. American dollars.

What is goods of own commodity (trade) brands? These are the goods made by the leading Russian and foreign enterprises especially for our chain. Why it is favorable to buyers? First of all at the expense of low prices!

It works so:

Having begun to release products own the trademark, producers receive a stable and constant sales channel, so and optimum loaded production capacities. At the same time the initial cost of production falls, and also there are no costs for advertizing, distributors and intermediaries. History

The company counts the history since March 5, 1994 [5] when its current owner Sergey Galitsky has founded the company on trade in household chemicals [6]. The first Magnit shop has been open in 1998 in Krasnodar to the address: Tyulyaev St., 8 (now — a supermarket Pyaterochka) [7]. The retail network quickly developed, having reached by the end of 2005 of 1500 shops. Since 2006 development of network of hypermarkets [6] is begun, in 2007 the first hypermarket in Krasnodar is open.

At the end of December, 2008 the Magnit network was included into the list of the companies which had the right for the state support during crisis.

In 2010 the company has begun to develop Magnit-Kosmetik retail network selling cosmetics (the first such shop has appeared in Novorossiysk) [8].

In 2012 the company has created own power supply company "Magnitenergo" which as it is planned, will serve shops of network [9]. Public sale of shares

In 2015 the retailer "Magnet" entered the rating of 100 most innovative companies of the world according to Forbes (the 23rd place), having overtaken such giants as Visa, Starbucks, Adobe and Coca-Cola[13].

• Sergey Galitsky — 39,32% (38,67% directly, 0,65% through Lavreno Ltd.);

• Vladimir Gordeychuk — 2,54% (directly);

• the shares controlled by the management and own shares redeemed from shareholders — 0,44%;

• In free circulation — 57,70%.

Activity

For March 1, 2016 the network of the company engaged 12089 shops, from them 9594 shops in the "shop at the house" format, 375 hypermarkets (including 156 hypermarkets "Magnet Family") and 2121 Magnit-Kosmetik shops, located in 2363 settlements of Russia.

For the beginning of March, 2016 the company had 26 distribution centers [15]. At the disposal of "Magnet" there are more than 5,7 thousand auto trucks of the MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Renault brand. The motor transportation enterprises are available at each distribution center of the company, in each of them there is officially certified service.

The revenue of the company from IFRS in 2010 made 236 billion rubles (in 2009 — 169,9 billion rubles, in 2008 — $5,35 billion), net profit — 10 billion rubles (8,7 billion rubles and $187,92 million) [16][17][18].

On October 28, 2014 capitalization of the company reached 1 trillion river at the Moscow exchange.

Shops of retail network "Magnit" are located in 2 297 settlements of the Russian Federation. I translated into English the material about the “Magnet Shops”.

I found the pictures about the “Magnet Shops”.


Now I know more about the “Magnet’s shops”, about the “Magnet’s products”, about such shop in Pozhva. I need it to describe the products for studying the topic “Shopping” in the 6th form.
