If you want, I’ll try to find it for you.
Old man – It’ll be so kind of you to help me.
Twain-I’ll be glad to help you, but it’ll take me some of my time; and…
Old man – I’m ready to pay for your time. How much do you want for it?
Twain – Three dollar.
Old man – Three dollar? But it is a very good dog. I’ll pay you ten dollar if you find it for me.
Twain – No, sir, I want three dollar and not a dollar more.
Old man – Well, thank you, young man, thank you very much.(Марк Твен стучит в дверь к генералу)
General – Come in.
Twain –Sorry to disturb you, General, but I’ve come to take the dog back.
General –But it isn’t your dog now .I’ve bought it .I’ve paid you three dollar for it.
Twain –I’ll give you back three dollar, but I must take the dog back.
General –But you have sold it to me. It’s my dog now.
Twain –I couldn’t have sold it to you, sir, because it wasn’t my dog.
General –Do you want to tell me that you took three dollar for a dog that wasn’t yours?
Twain –I took the money, but I never told you that it was my dog.
General –But you have sold it to me for three dollar.
Twain –How could I have sold it to you if it wasn’t my dog? You asked me how much I wanted for the dog and I said that I wanted three dollar, but I’ve never told you that it was my dog.
General –Give me back three dollar and take the dog.
Twain –Here is the money .Goodbye, General!
Old man –I’m so thankful to you .You are so kind .I’m very glad.
Twain –I’m happy too, because I have earned money, haven’t it?
