Aims of the lesson: 1. Students will brush up knowledge on 2 English-speaking countries.
2. They will train to use some grammar material a (Present simple/progressive).
3. They will be trained to use their guessing skills.
Equipment: cards with questions and tasks, toys.
Patterns of interaction: group-work.
Procedure:
Division into groups. Every person gets a number (1/2) so students are divided into 2 groups according the number they have.
Greeting. Choosing the name for the teams. Stating the aims of the game.
Quiz. There are several sections of questions (this quiz can be organized like a famous game “Своя игра”). Or teams can take turns answering the questions.

What river is London situated on?
What is the capital of Scotland?
What is the symbol of England?

4. Grammar game “Naught and Crosses”.
The teacher draws a naught and crosses grid on the blackboard and writes numbers from 1 to 9 in each square.

One time is X and other is O. In turn each team decides which square they want to nominate and they have to make up a grammatically correct sentence (affirmative, negative or interrogative).
If they are correct, the teacher puts a symbol of their team. The first team which gets a line of three symbols in any direction across the grid is the winner.
5. Let’s draw!
Each team should touch a toy (the toy is hidden in the bag, the players can’t see it) and draw it. The team with the best picture wins. Option: we can award an extra point for the story or description of the toy.
6. Antonyms.
A well-known game. We take a phrase or a title of a famous song and make an antonymous construction from it. Students should guess the song.

Clever boy- Stupid girl
They are the losers- We are the champions
Ugly man sitting in the house- Pretty woman walking down the street
Always, always forbid me come- Never, never let you go

7. Miming game.
Each team gets a card with task, they should show what is written without saying a word. The rest of the team should guess what they are showing.
Variants of task-cards:
Pinocchio.
Donald Duck.
Sponge Bob and Patrick.
Tom and Jerry.
Shrek and Fiona.
The Beauty and the Beast.
8. Results and awards. (We can award the whole team and also choose the most intelligent player, the funniest player etc.)
