Брейн-ринг по английскому языку для 9 классов



Цель: развитие социокультурной компетенции учащихся

Задачи:

1) Образовательная:

- повышение познавательного интереса учащихся к языку через использование игровых моментов;

- расширение кругозора учащихся;

2) Развивающая:

- развитие умений учащихся анализировать, сравнивать, логически мыслить, делать выводы;

- развитие внимания и памяти учащихся;

- развитие умений работать в группе, выслушать разные точки зрения.

3) Воспитательная:

- воспитание умения работать в команде;

- воспитание чувства уважения друг к другу, доброжелательности, толерантности, чувства товарищества и сопереживания;

- воспитание уважительного отношения к другой культуре.

4) Практическая:

- развитие навыков устной речи;

- развитие навыков восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух.


Оснащение: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, презентация (Приложение 1)


Ход мероприятия:


Teacher: Dear guests, teachers and friends! We are glad to see you at our game. The weather is excellent today. And we start our game: “Brain - ring”.

Let me introduce our judges. Here they are: ……

And these are our teams: the pupils of 9-A, and 9-B forms. (Each team consists of 5-6 pupils). We wish them success. Applaud to them, please. And now, the rules of the game. I give you a question (you can see it on the interactive whiteboard). You have one minute for discussion. The captain of the first team ready to answer raises the hand and can answer. You get 2 points for the right answer. If the team is wrong the other team has a chance to answer.

Let’s begin and good luck!


The first round

Questions for discussions:

- The more it dries, the wetter it gets. What is it? (a towel)

- The more you have of it, the less you see? What is it? (darkness)

- The more you take away, the bigger it gets? What is it? (a hole)

- It's not an airplane, but it can fly. It's not a river, but it's full of water. What is it? (a cloud)

- When the British want to underline that a person is lucky, they say: he was born 1) in a green shirt, 2) with a silver spoon in his mouth, 3) when the rain had stopped.(2)

- If a person likes candies and chocolates, the British say: he 1) has a sweet tooth, 2) has a candy mouth, 3) is a chocolate head.(1)

Who wrote this story?

1. (There are 2 options: a) The pupils of the 6-7 forms perform a stage from the book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain or b) the pupils can read the text on the whiteboard)

A: Tom! (Tom doesn't answer.) Where is the boy? Tom!

T: Here I am.

A: Oh, you've been to that closet. What were you doing there?

T: Nothing.

A: Nothing? Look at your hands. (Tom is look­ing at his hands.) And look at your mouth. What is it?

T: I don't know, Aunt.

A: Well, I know. It's jam, that's what it is. (She is looking for a cane.) Hand me that cane.

T: Oh, look behind you, Aunt! (Aunt Polly looks behind her, Tom runs away. Aunt Polly stands surprised for a moment, and then she breaks into laughter.


2. The pupils read the extract from “Harry Porter and the Philosopher’s Stone by C. Joanne Rowling on the whiteboard.

Uniform

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)

Please note that all pupils’ clothes should carry name tags

All students should have a copy of each of the following:

The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1) by Miranda Goshawk

A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot

Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling

A Beginners’ Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch

Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger
